"We have yet not had our first official kiss as husband and wife to seal the deal."

His warm breath kept ticking on my lips, making me feel jittery in my stomach. Even if he moved slightly, they would touch each other. A big lump settled in the base of my throat, not ready to get pushed down. My heart was thumping so loudly when he said that. We kissed many times, then why was my stupid heart fluttering like that? Why has it chosen to rebel against me so suddenly? In such a situation where I needed her to be in the right place. It was not jumping all over the place like a bunny. I had no words when he said that. If I don't do anything, he will connect our lips, and I don't want it. Not now, for sure, because I don't trust myself anymore.

My cell phone started to ring loudly, and it pulled me out of the spell he had created around me with round-round words. It was a ringtone that I had set for the Sabrina special. I immediately pushed him away, and he let me go without any protesting, recognising the ringtone. I got out of bed, grabbed my cell phone with one hand, and ran to open the bathroom door with the other. I closed the door loudly with a thought. My heart was still beating so fast. I pressed the loudly ringing cell phone to my chest while taking deep breaths. I need to calm down first, or else, at this rate, I will soon encounter a heart attack. He was being extra cheesy this morning. I'm not used to this Erick anymore. He makes my heart flutter, and I don't want him to do that. I want to keep my distance from him anyhow. I shrugged my shoulders and decided to answer my constantly ringing cell phone. I slid up the green button and pressed it to my ear.

“Hello, Sabrina, you are fine. Everything alright with dad?” I asked her, thinking if she was having any problems or if there was some emergency with Dadd. I was a little scared to know about the latter part, but I still have to.

“I'm good, and everything is fine. I had called Mom before leaving for school. Dad was sleeping after taking the medicine. He is slowly recovering. I called to check on you. Are you fine? You were not feeling good when you dropped at home,” she said, sounding concerned. I took a deep breath of relief when she said that was better now. I hope he recovers soon. I would give a million dollars to see his frowning and sulking face rather than his sick and exhausted face. I'm not used to seeing him like that.

“Grace, are you there?” Sabrina asked when I took a long pause, not answering her question.

“Yes, I'm feeling much better now after a good sleep,” I said while pressing my hand to my forehead and then pushing back my hair, which was falling on my face.

“Thank god. I wanted to wait more before calling, but anxiety kept eating me up. Sorry to disturb your sleep so early,” she said apologetically.

“Hey, you don't have to be sorry for checking on me, and anyways, I was awake before you called me,” I told her so she didn't feel guilty. The two people she loves most are me and Dad. Yeah, of course, Lily, too. Why won't she? She is her mother.

“Why are you awake so early? Go back to sleep, or else your face will be puffy and dry. You are going to attend the wedding today. You have to look great,” she instructed me like Lily would have. She was so much like her. I chuckled at my little mother hen.

“Yeah, you are right. I will go back to sleep,” I said while still chuckling.

"Bye,"  she sang a song from the other side of the call. I cut the call after saying buy. The smile still played on my lips. I didn't want to walk out of the bathroom, but I had no choice. I opened the door and peeped out, and to my relief, my bedroom was empty. I took a deep breath and stepped. He was not even close. I knew it because I didn't hear any sound. Suddenly, the door of the closet opened, and he walked out, proving me wrong. He was only wearing boxer shorts and his socks. My heart was pumped with sweet fear when I saw him like that. My mouth went dry. I was ready to turn around and bolt back to the bathroom like a scary cat, but his firm voice stopped me.

“Wait!” He said it in a firm tone, making me stop in my tracks. I slowly turned to face him.

“I'm heading to the gym and won't be back in an hour or two. Go back to sleep and have some rest. I don't want my wife to go to my cousin's wedding with puffy eyes,” he said, looking at me and my fingers touching under my eye. They are puffed because they are crying. But what's with this new obsession with the word wife? I didn't say anything. He smirked at me before walking away. As soon as he left, I felt relief wash over me. I was happy that he didn't demand the deal, sealing the official kiss again. I slipped inside the sheets, and a yawn left my mouth. I love it when bed is all for me. I stretch before covering myself and dozing off once again. I ended up sleeping an hour and a half more. When I woke up, he was already present in the room, ready in his office attire. He was going to the office today. I rubbed my eyes and sat up on the bed.

“I’m leaving for an urgent meeting. I will come home to pick you up for the wedding,” he said while buttoning up the buttons of his blazer.

“I think we should leave a little early. We also need to tell Grandma about our marriage,” he said while looking at me through the mirror. It made me open my eyes fully.

“I don't think we need to tell Grandma or anyone about it,” I said while looking back at him. He stopped buttoning his blazer and looked at me straight through the mirror. His cold blue eyes turned hard, and suddenly, the temperature became even more chilly in the room. I shivered under his chilly gaze.

“And why do you think like that?”
