“Tell me how to forgive a person who killed your baby.”
I looked down and quickly wiped my tears. I don't want anyone to see it. Isabella hugged me from the side. Her palm makes soothing circles on my arm. I sniffed a few times before looking up. As soon as I lifted my head, I met with a cold ocean-blue one. He was already looking at me. His brows furrowed, looking at my teary eyes and quivering lips. More tears started to well up on my lips, and my lower lip wobbled. Why is he looking at me like that? A silent conversation happens between our eyes, and his face hardens.
“I'm with you. You can always talk with me,” Isabela consoled me, making me tear my eyes away from him. I blinked my tears away and gave her a small nod. We all had our dinner, and now it was time to leave. I was so tired from all the things I did today. The preparation and running here and there to get one thing or another had exhausted me. I was not only physically exhausted but emotionally too. I just wanted to go back and cure up in bed. Most of the guests had already left. Now only close friends were there, and we too were about to take our leave. Evelyn and Alex walked out to bid us goodnight before we left.
“Once again, congratulations,” I said, hugging her tightly. She hugged me tightly. She was so happy, and I was happy for her.
"Bye, see you tomorrow, or you can take the day off and enjoy the day with your new fiance,” I said to Evelyn, winking at her. Evelyn's face turned slightly red. I chuckled in surprise, looking at her. Evelyn, as we know, never blushes.
“Don't do things intensely, and use protection. I'm so excited for the wedding. I don't want the wedding to be delayed for nine months,” Isabela said with a mischievous smile on her face. She loves to tease people. Evelyn's eyes widened when she said that.
"Isabella,” she whined like a child, making us laugh. I know Alex heard it too, because his ears had turned red. He was talking with boys and giving them manly hugs. Aria hugged her, and for the first time, two angry cats were smiling at each other with happiness in their eyes. I waved my hand for the last time and walked down. I walked to Isabella's car. I came here in her car, and she was going to give me a ride back home.
“Where are you going?” Erick held my hand when I was about to open the door. I turned my eyes and looked at him. My brows were raised in question.
“Can't you see home?” I said sternly, trying to yank my hand out of his hold.
“You are coming with me,” he said, tightening his hold on my wrist and pulling me to him. Is he serious?
“Get in the car, Grace,” Isabella said while walking around to take her seat behind the wheel. She came just now. I was about to reply to her when he talked.
“She is going with me. You go,” Erick said, pulling me to him. I was about to talk again when his cousin butted in.
“Izzy, will you drop Daniel on your way? You stay in the same direction,” Xanthus said while jogging at her. Her brows furrowed when he said that.
“He has a car,” she said sternly. Refusing to give him a lift,
“His car broke down. I would have given him more, but I'm short on fuel. There is no fuel pump for two kilometres. The pump is in the opposite direction. It will be too late," he explains to her. She gave lots of excuses, but in the end, she had to agree.
“Grace, you are leaving,” Andrew asked me. He came after sending off his parents.
“N–” Erick didn't even let me complete my sentence. Erick dragged me to his car. Opening the door, he made me sit inside it. I looked at him in disbelief.
“I was talking to him,” I said, still looking at him in disbelief. Instead of answering me, he scoffed under his breath and closed the door a little more harshly. It made me flinch. He started the engine and rolled the wheel with one hand. My jaw clenched.
“Drop me at my place. I'm not going anywhere with you,” I said sternly when he took the turn to get on the main road. He didn't reply to me and continued to drive. I hate him. so much. I turned my face and continued to look out of the window. I was too mad to hold a conversation with him. I kept looking at the passing trees and cars. Looking at them made me feel as if I was in some kind of trance. My eyes started to feel heavy, and bad exhaustion started to take over. I don't remember when my eyes closed and I fell asleep. The slumber felt so sweet to wake up. My sleep-filled eyelids were so heavy that they refused to open. I felt warmth and cosiness, and it made me snuggle closely. I took a deep breath, and an alluring, intoxicating scent entered my system. It soothed my tense muscles. My body went through a little stress when that warmth disappeared for a moment. I felt it tickling on my legs. A little weight was removed from my foot. I felt soothing circles where the strap of my heels was digging into my skin. Ruffling clothes, then Something rough was rubbed on my neck, and then I felt something soft below my clavicle on the spot that stung so lightly.
"Hmm,” I moaned in my sleep and then wrapped my hand around the warmth that was hugging me. I felt that softness again on my forehead. Strands of my hair were pushed behind my ear so they didn't disturb my sleep. I felt so comfortable. I snuggled more closely. I was sleeping like this after ages. I took one more deep breath, and it pushed me to the edge of respite. I don't know how long I was lost in it. My throat started to feel as dry as a desert. My mouth had gone dry without any moisture. The need to drink something cold made me open my mouth because my eyes refused to open. I stride in my sleep.
"Water,” I whispered with my eyes still closed. I didn't need to breathe that word out, and I felt a glass being passed to my lips. I gulped down that water like a parched woman. The cold water soothed my itching throat, quenching my thirst. A few drops slipped out from the corner of my mouth, trailing down, throwing my chin to my throat. I felt a rough pad of my thumb wiping my lower lips and then tracing the trail of that droplet. It made me slightly shiver under the touch. That rough pad rubbed on a spot, which moaned past my lips. I turned around to face the other side, but there was a hold on my waist, and it made it impossible for me to move away.
“Go back to sleep, doll,” a husky voice whispered in my ear, pulling me back to the warmth that was shielding me from the cold breeze of the air conditioner. I live alone, so no one is in my house. My heavy eyes shot open. My heavy gaze narrowed at the black, grey walls. I was not in my room. I turned my eyes in alarm, still not knowing where I was. Green clashed with the cold blue one. My heart started to beat fast. I swallowed hard.
What am I doing with him on the bed?
