“And why do you think like that?”
Even hell could freeze under those eyes. His cold blue eyes were steady and firmly stuck on me. His thick voice still lingered in the air making me take deep breaths. I noticed how he had stopped buttoning his blazer and was not moving further. I had many reasons for not telling anyone that we got married. It will not even take a day for word to spread in the media and then I will be doomed. There will be a headline on how I married a great business tycoon. Most eligible bachelor secretary just before his cousin was about to get married. It will snatch all the limelight from their marriage. I don't want it to happen to Sage. Once, as a little girl, I had a dream of having a princess wedding, but that dream doesn't excite me anymore. I know weddings are only for show and nothing else. It's better to keep it a secret now. I cleared my throat before answering him.
“Xanthus and Sage are getting married. Today is their day and I don't want to snatch the limelight from them. They deserve all the focus” I told my reasons. I kept some of the reasons to myself not wanting to tell him. I know it will take him only one second before he turns into a beast.
“I told you we are going to tell it only to Grandma, not anyone else. I don't want to ruin their day too. We can announce it to the family some other day, but we are going to,” he said the last part more firmly as if warning me that I'm not allowed to hide it. He was now done buttoning up his blazer.
“Then we can tell Grandma about our marriage on the same day we announce it to your family,” I said, trying to protest. If Grama comes to know about it, there will be no way out of it. I can't let that happen.
“She will be the one planning one more wedding immediately. You know how she doesn't like paper marriage. It's the whole reason why Xanthus and Sages are getting married with all proper rituals, and I'm not ready for it now,” I said with a tight smile on my face. His steady cold blue eyes remained fixed on me. She applied his perfume while looking at me through the mirror. I don't know what he was thinking. What evilness was brewing in his evil mind? I was dying here in suspense. He took his sweet time before turning around to look at me.
“Then how long do you want me to hide it from grandma” he asked in his dominating voice. Now his attention and focus was fully on me. I blinked my eyes thinking. Maybe forever I don't mind. I wanted to say that but I can't.
“Until Dad gets better and everything cools down. My next few months are going to be hectic, and I don't want to get into wedding preparations,” I said with a smile on my face. I was trying my best to convince him. He grabbed his watch and wallet while still looking at me. I don't know what fun he is having in creating so much suspense.
“I will think about it,” he said while walking towards me. I bent down to my level and I knew what he wanted. I covered my mouth immediately. His cold blue eyes glinted in amusement and then he pressed a kiss on my forehead.
“Our first kiss as husband and wife won't be this simple. I will take it in my way,” he said with a smirk and then kissed my nose tip before walking away. I kept sitting still until his back completely vanished from my eyes. I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom to take a shower. After taking a quick shower, I decided to go to the hospital to see Dad. Dad was doing fine. He has been shifted to a private room. He was recovering. Sabrina also came straight to the hospital after school. She had made some lucky charm in the school, and she made Dad wear it. Dad wore it happily. It brought a smile to my lips. I was busy talking with Lily when he walked inside the room. How did he get to know I was here?
“How are you doing now?” He asked my dad, who answered him in his weak voice. That he was doing much better. He sat beside me and his intoxicating scent engulfed me. His hand went behind my back and it made his shoulder brush with mine. My breath hitched unknowingly. Sabrina was busy telling us the story of her play in school and we all were listening when I felt him taking hold of my hand and started playing with it. His big fingers started to play with mine and it made a big lump form in the base of my throat. I tried to get it out of his hold but he held it tightly.
What was he doing in front of everyone?
He kept doing that. He has become even more touchy. After spending some time with Dad, we left for the wedding of Xanthus and Sage. Everything was already arranged so there was not much to do. I got dressed there, and Sophia, Sage's best friend, did my makeup and hair. The wedding went as planned. Everyone was so happy. Xanthus kissed Sage eagerly as soon as the priest announced them, husband and wife. Everyone started cheering. I smile looking at them. I was busy clapping my hands and cheering them when suddenly a callous thumb and finger took hold of my chin. My face was turned, and before I got hold of the situation, he slammed his lips on me. My eyes widened in surprise. He was kissing me in front of everyone. My heart was thumping so loudly inside my rib cage. I heard gasps. I felt hundreds of eyes on us and his words echoed in my ear.
“Our first kiss as husband and wife won't be this simple.”
He sealed the deal in front of everyone.
