I managed to escape the blue-eyed demon somehow, but at what cost?

I stopped by in a taxi as soon as I left that place and went to his house because all my clothes were there. I got ready as soon as possible before he showed up. I left before he could come. I saw his car entering the gates when I drove away. Thank God I didn't bump into him. He would have found one way or another to keep me engaged with all kinds of tactics, not to mention that he sounded angry when I ran away from the hotel room. I drive through the gates of the Villain Mansion. I parked it immediately and ran inside the house, making sure I didn't trip and fall. My whole body was aching because of the things we did last night. She was busy instructing house help when she saw me. She dismissed them after saying something and turned to look at me.

“What took you so long?'' Isabella said immediately when she saw me entering the house.

“I was stuck in traffic,” I told her with a sheepish smile on my face. I told her half the truth. Her eyes narrowed in my direction.

"Yeah, hickeys on your neck are telling me what kind of traffic you were stuck in,” she said with a smirk on the corner of her lip, and her grey eyes moved to hickey on my neck. I immediately put my hand on it. I forgot to hide them because I was getting late. I closed my eyes in embarrassment. My face was burning red like a tomato.

“Come with me. I will give you makeup to hide them,” she said while taking my hand.

"Grace,” a familiar voice called my name as soon as we turned.

“Why is he so early?'' Isabella muttered under her breath in irritation. I immediately covered my neck with my hair before turning around.

“Hey, Daniel,” I said with a big smile on my face. Isabella kept showing her back, not wanting to look at him. His eyes narrowed in her direction when I turned her around to face him. She just rolled her eyes, looking disinterested even to look at him.

“It looks like you had lots of fun with strippers,” he said sternly while looking at me, but I felt like his words were directed towards Isabella. She once again rolled her eyes. She turned her head and looked at her.

“A lot,” she said, matching his mocking voice. She said she was looking straight into his eyes. His jaw clenched when she said that. Suddenly, the air around us became even thicker. His nose flared in anger, and it felt like he wanted to say something, but he bit back his words. It was not my first time seeing them bickering at each other, but today something seemed different. My eyes narrowed, looking in between both of them. Something looks fishy here to me.

“Daniel” Xanthus walked inside the hall, and it made Daniel look in his way. His presence broke the tension in the air.

"Come, let's go,” Isabella said while taking my hand. I turned my head to look in his direction. I saw how Daniels' eyes were narrow in her way. My brows furrowed even more suspiciously.

“Do you fight with each other again, or is it something else?” I asked while raising my eyebrow.

“There is nothing new, Grace," she said, dismissing the topic. I pressed my lips in a thought line when she said that, with a sceptical look in my eyes. I decided not to budge on it more for now. She is hiding something from me.

We went to her room, which she was sharing with Sage. I needed my head with a thankful smirk on my face. “Where is Sage?” I asked when I didn't find her in the room.

“She is down with everyone. She is stuck with my mom and her mom. They are telling her something important about matrimonial stuff. You should have seen her face,” Sage said with a small chuckle. Making me chuckle too.

“Poor Sage, why don't you go and pull her away from them? I will be down as soon as I'm done with it,” I told her when she handed me the pouch of her makeup.

“I think it's time; she needs a rescue,” Isabella said while nodding her head. She walked out after giving me the pouch. I walked to the mirror and started to apply makeup to all the marks he left on me. I put a concealer on it, but they were still visible. I had to apply it even more and then blend it with my skin colour with the help of foundation. The process was lengthy for me. It took a good amount of my time to do it. Once I was done hiding it, I went down and helped Isabella. My whole body was aching while I still kept running from here to there. All the family members will soon start to come. I had my dress with me, and it was in my car. I had forgotten to take it out. I asked one of the helpers to fetch it for me. After Sage got ready, I decided to get ready. Isabella had already gotten ready.

My dress was a cream-coloured gown with a deep neckline. I would have never chosen this dress if I knew I was going to get deep maroon-red hickeys all over my chest and neck. I had to do all that makeup process again. I had let my hair down with soft curls at the end. Once I was all ready, I went down. I was ready to meet guests. I was about to take a turn, which would talk me into the hall when a hand grabbed my wrist with a firm grip. I was pulled into the corner near the staircase, where no one could see us. My heart started to beat fast in fear as soon as his rich perfume entered my nose. He pinned my back to the wall and nuzzled his face into my neck. Goosebumps formed all over my skin when he rubbed the tip of his nose on my bare neck. Slowly he moved his mouth over my ear. His warm breath tickled my skin, making me feel something weird in my stomach. I didn't want to admit it but those were butterflies. His dark, cunning voice made my heart beat even faster.

“I caught you, my doll.”
