Why did it feel like we were talking about two different things?

I blinked my eyes while still looking at him with a stunned face. He chuckled, looking at my face. He took hold of my chin and moved forward, pressing his full lips on mine. My eyes widened when he did that, pulling me out of my haze.

"Lily,” I heard my dad groaning. It made me pull away from him and turn my head to look at my father. He had his eyes still closed. I immediately stood up and walked to him with a worried look on my face. I heard Erick groan in displeasure.

“Dad, are you ok?” I asked him while putting my hand on his shoulder.

“Are you feeling pain?” I asked him when he opened his eyes to look at me.

“I want some water,” he said while looking at me in surprise.

“Just a second,” I said while filling the glass with water for him. I adjusted his bed first, and then I helped him drink it. He exhaled deeply while resting his back on the pillow.

“What are you doing here? Where is Lily?” He asked me with that surprised look still in his eyes. He was not expecting me to be here. I know because we didn't have that loving father-and-daughter relationship. I think he even expected that I wouldn't be visiting him after this morning.

“I sent Lily home. She was so tired, and she needed to rest. She will be here tomorrow,” I told him before he started to worry about her. His brows furrowed, but he still nodded his head.

“You should have left too. You got married yesterday. You should not leave your husband alone at home. Nurses are here to take care of me,” he said, trying to convince me to send him away. I know my presence is burdening him because he never believed in taking help. I exhaled deeply when he said that. I think he has not seen Erick. I was standing in front of him.

“I don't have any problems. I'm not alone at home. I'm here with my wife,” Erick said before I could tell him he was here too. I moved slightly, and my father saw Erick sitting on the couch. Erick gave him a tight smile. I saw relief in his eyes, but it was soon covered with worry.

“You would be tired after attending Xanthus’ wedding. You both should head back now. It's so late, and nurses are here to take care of me,” he once again tried to send us away from here. He didn't want to bother us, and I could see in his eyes. He didn't want to be a burden. I could see the guilt in his eyes, which I had seen once a long time ago. The day I left his house for good. Till yesterday, I was holding on to all those things until I saw my father fighting for his life. As soon as the doctor told us that he was out of danger, I had let go of all the grudges I had against him. It was not easy for me to let go of it, but somehow, at the same time, it felt like it was the easiest thing I had ever done. It made me feel so light that I could breathe so freely. I don't know if I have forgiven him because the wounds are still so deep it will take some time to fill them, but I will try to forgive him. It's the only thing I can do to free him and to free myself. I covered his hand with mine, and it made him look at me.

“Dad, we are here because we want to, and it's only a matter of night we both can manage. You don't have to worry,” I said softly while looking into his eyes.

“Now rest,” I said this time with a small smile. He slowly nodded his head, not asking us again to head back.

“If you want anything, call me,” I told him while coming to him properly, and he nodded his head this time to return my smile.

“Don't stress so much, and take a rest?” my father said, and I nodded my head. He closed his eyes and slept. I walked back to the couch and sat beside Erick.

“Eat it before it gets cold,"  he said. It made me avert my eyes from Dad and then eat the food. I asked him if he was not eating, and he said he was not hungry. I couldn't finish it all, so I made him eat the rest of it.

“Let's lie down,” Erick said when I was done drinking the water. I looked at the couch when he said that.

“How will we both fit in it?” I said while looking at him with furrowed brows. He is so huge that it is possible to fit on this small couch. Instead of answering me, he pulled on the couch, making me fall on his lap, and then he adjusted both of us on that small couch. My half-body was on his. His one hand was on my waist, keeping me in place. My back was resting on his front, and then he nuzzled his face in my neck.

“Like this,” he whispered while pressing a kiss on my neck.

“Now, sleep before I change my mind,"  he mumbled, making my heart beat fast in sweet fear. I was exhausted, so it didn't take me long to fall asleep in his embrace. I was in deep slumber when I felt a feathery kiss all over my bare neck and face. He nibbled on my earlobe, making me open my eyes slightly.

“I'm sleeping,” I mumbled in my sleep. He rubbed the tip of his nose on the column of my neck. Something hard was rubbing against my butt. His heavy breaths echoed in my ear.

“I tried to control so much, but now I can't,"  he whispered huskily in my ear. His breath became even more heavy and needy.

“I want to have you.”
