****Hello Guys****
It scared me enough not to want to be around him anymore.
I ran away from him. I just didn't want to be around him anymore. I knew he was bad for me, and the more I found him near me, the more my assumption came to exist. He is bad for me, and I should stay away from him. I wiped my tears with the backs of my hands, which were now freely falling from my eyes. I stopped running only when there was some distance between us. I felt sweat and tears mixing on my face and whipped my face with both of my hands. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself. I walked back to the auditorium, where Evelyn was waiting for me. There was a cheerleading selection going on. I was searching for her in the crowd when I collided with someone.
"I'm sorry–," My words died in my mouth. The person I collided with was none other than the same girl who was kissing him. My face turned grim looking at the smirk on her lips.
"Never mind," she said with a smirk on her lips. She flipped her hair before walking away with that smirk still plastered to her lips. It felt like she purposely bumped into me to rub her smirk on my face. I looked away from her retreat.
"Grace," I heard a familiar voice calling for me. Evelyn was sitting in the crowd and waving at me. I pulled myself up and walked to her.
"Come I have saved a seat for you," she said while taking away
her bag from the seat beside me.
"What took you so long?" she asked while looking at me with raised brows.
"I couldn't find the book," I said and sighed, looking at all the cheerleaders gathered at the audition. My eyes landed on a familiar face.
"I didn't know Isabella was participating," Evelyn voiced her question.
"Me neither," I said, and then the audition started. That girl who I had seen kissing Erick turned out to be the captain of the cheerleader team. Someone was even saying she has a crush on Erick. They said many more things. I eavesdropped on their conversation. The audition went well, with students cheering the participants. Results will be announced after two days. It was a big deal in our high school to be a cheerleader because you get to hang out with the athletes of the school. I didn't see Erick for the rest of the day. It turned out for the best because I didn't want to see him. He was in class the next day. I did my best not to look his way, even when I felt his eyes on me. I kept minding my business. Thank God it was the weekend. Two days would be free of him.
"Grace, you're coming to the party tomorrow, right?" Evelyn asked me when I was busy solving a chemistry problem. My brows furrowed when she said that.
"Whose party?" I asked, averting my eyes from my books to look at her.
"One of the jocks is throwing a party, and the whole school is invited," she said in excitement while gripping my arms. Why did I hear about it?
"You are coming?" she asked with hopeful eyes.
"I don't know," I said and shrugged my shoulders, going back to my chemistry problem. "I was not asking. You are coming to the party with me tomorrow.
"We will get ready at my place tomorrow, and it's decided," she said like a bossy best friend. The look she gave me said I had no choice. I exhaled and noted my head.
"Ok, now can I go back to my chemistry problem?" I asked, and she grinned like a cashier cat and bobbed her head yes. The rest of the day went by. The next day I was at her place, and we both got ready. I was going to spend the night at her place. I have informed Lilly about my plan. I was wearing a brown miniskirt with a black top. My shoulders were bare with a tiny strip of my tops. I curled my hair at the end. Evelyn was wearing a cute little dress. I applied some light red lipstick and eyeliner with the help of Evelyn. I am still not good at it because I have just started to practise. We left for the party after half an hour. Loud music was bashing out of the house. It was a beach house with a forest on the other side.
"Tell me we are not going to stay here for long," I said to Evelyn when I saw the house was packed with people. Neon lights play on them while music plays. Evelyn chuckled when I said that.
"You need to relax a little." We will have lots of fun tonight" she said with enthusiasm and grabbed my hand dragging me between the people dancing. I just took God's name and followed her.
"Want some beer?" Xanthus said, handing both of us two cups. I smiled, looking at a familiar face in the crowd. I gulped it down in one sitting. It made my throat sting a bit.
"Easy, Tiger," Xanthus said with a smirk, looking at my twitching face. I don't know why I was feeling a little nervous tonight. It was the only reason why I gulped the beer in one go.
"Let's go dance," Evelyne said, pulling me and Xanthus. The three of us started swinging our bodies to the music's beats. Evelyn made me smile with her weird dance moves. Xanthus copied her, making me laugh even more. My body started to relax after a few minutes, and I started to enjoy the party.
"I need some fresh air," I said to them when I was tired from dancing nonstop with them. They nodded. I wrapped my hands around myself and started to walk toward the backyard, which opens to the beach.
"Grace," I heard someone calling me. I turned around to find Zack. He is my chemistry lab partner.
"Hey," I said, smiling at him. He is a nerdy guy, but a handsome nerd with a medium build.
"Hey," he grinned back at me. Music was playing in the background.
"I never thought I would ever see you at parties," he grinned again while putting his hands in his jeans pockets.
"Me neither," I said, making him blush a little.
"Where are you going?" he asked me after clearing his throat.
"To get some fresh air," I said, to which he nodded. He asked me if he could join, and I agreed. He was the guy I knew for so long.
"You look great, by the way. Silly me you always look great," he said to me when we walked out of the porch.
"Thank you," I said, still looking at the sea. Faint music is playing in the background. I don't know if he was telling the truth or if he was saying it to be nice. I was not one of those girls with a perfect figure out there. I was a bit chubby with thick thighs. It didn't stop me from wearing what I wanted. I believe in fashion. You can wear anything, but you should know how to carry yourself. There are a few dresses that I can't fit into, and it sometimes makes me sad.
"Can you ask something?" he said, suddenly pulling me out of my thoughts. It made me look at him. I nodded my head slightly, asking him to go on. I know he is going to ask me if I'm done with my chemistry assignment. He scratched the back of his head with a nervous smile on his face.
"I have been trying to ask you this for so long," he continued with that nervous smile on his face. My brows furrowed a bit looking at his nervous face.
Why was he nervous about the assignment?
"Will you go out with me?" he asked in a hopeful voice and with a nervous face. My eyes widened in surprise when he asked me that. Before I could respond to him, my wrist was held in a firm grip and a harsh, familiar voice answered for me.
"She will not."
