How should I?
How should I tell him? I was still trying to find ways out of this arrangement. How should I tell him I don't want to marry him? How should I? Things were getting more and more difficult for me. A big lump of emotion clogged my throat. I could not even express what I was feeling at that moment. It was too much for my mind and body to take. My well-up green orbs met with his tired green orbs. He was exhausted and looked so weak. He just survived a heart attack. He should be taking rest, but here he was pleading with me to get married to Erick. He wanted to see me get married to Erick now.
“It's my last wish. Then this old man will never bother you,” he said with a small, pained smile on the corner of his lips. My heart flinched once again when he said that.
“I know I'm asking too much, and after tonight, if you never want to see me again, I will understand,” he said with a tear running down his left eye.
“I understand! I have never been a good father to you,” he said in a heavy voice while trying to control his tears. He still smiles at me with an understanding look in his eyes.
“I will spend my remaining days with a memory of this night,” he said with that pained smile still on his lips. I couldn't hold back anymore. The dam of my emotion broke, and I just couldn't hold it back anymore. All my feelings, all my readers, all my love, and all my hate for him started to roll down my eyes. I just couldn't see him in this state. My dad has always been such a poised man, and seeing him pleading with me made my heart break.
“Dad, stop saying all those things. I will marry Erick. Please just don't say all those things,” I pleaded to him while hugging him again. He wrapped his hand around my back, pulling me to his chest, where his heart was beating. After that, he called Erick and told him everything. Erick made all the arrangements, and in half an hour, Erick's lawyer was there with the marriage papers and all the needed documents. Everything happens so fast.
“Sign here, ma'am,” the lawyer told me while pointing at the blank spot on the paper. I looked at Dad, and he smiled at me. Encouraging me to sign the paper. I gave him a weak smile and took a deep breath. I held the pen in a firm grip and signed the papers that bound me to the devil of my life until we were dead. Lily was beside me all the time, and Sabrina was so happy for us. Both my mother and daughter cried with tears of happiness when I signed the papers. Erick signed the papers immediately.
“You are now husband and wife,” the lawyer said, collecting the papers. My chest heaved with an unknown feeling, and my eyes moved to Erick. His cold blue eyes were already on me. They looked deep into my green orbs as if they were looking at my soul. I felt so exposed when he looked at me like that.
“Your certificate will be ready in two days. I will deliver it to your place, Mr. Villain,” he said to Erick in his professional voice, and it made me break our silence. I took a deep, jiggering breath and looked away. My chest was still heavy with that feeling. I am now his wife. I still had not completely accepted that I was his fiance, and now I'm his wife. It was too much for me to digest. "Congratulations, Grace,” Sabrina said happily with a huge smile on her face. A smile formed on my lips when I saw her smiling. I was happy that she was smiling and not crying anymore. I hugged her back while moving my hand on her back. I looked at my dad and saw him wiping his tears. He was trying his best to hide them. I had no idea that my dad would cry when I got married. I always thought he would be so happy to get rid of me because I was his unwanted daughter. Lily stood beside my dad while holding his shoulder. Supporting him like she has been doing for all those years. I forced myself to smile at them, and my dad, who was not expecting me to smile at him, beamed at me. He was still trying his best to hide his tears. Sabrina broke the hug and went to Erick.
“I'm so happy for you, Erick,” she said while hugging him as if he were a teddy bear. She looked so small in his embrace. I chuckled, looking at her. I found cold blue eyes looking at me, and it made me press my lips together. I stopped smiling and looked away. After an hour or so, the doctor came to check on Dad. He told us that Dad was doing well now and that he was out of danger. They are going to keep him in the hospital for a few more days. I wanted to stay back and send Lily and Sabrina home, but they refused to go home without Dad.
“You should head back. You need to attend the Xanthus wedding tomorrow. You need to get some sleep to look good. Don't worry about your dad; I'm here to take care of him,” Lily said with a smile on her face.
“And me too. Don't worry about him, and don't be stressed. You are a new bride. I don't want you to get pimples,” Sabrina said while showing her teeth.
“Missy, you are going with them. You have school tomorrow,” Lily said in a firm tone, and it made Sabrina frown.
“But Mom! Dad needs me here,” she said with that frown still on her cute face.
“Your dad needs me, and I'm here. Go with your sister, and you can come here after school,” she said in a firm tone, leaving no chance for her to argue.
"Come, let's go,” I said while taking hold of her shoulder and pulling her with me. We dropped her off at my dad's house before going to ours. Once we reached home, I changed my clothes and dozed off. Erick slipped inside the sheets and held me from behind. I was too exhausted to protest. The next morning came with a new start and a new beginning, for which I was still not yet ready. I was snuggling in a warm embrace when a husky, dominating voice whispered in my eyes.
“Good morning, wife," he said, saying that he nibbled on my earlobe. It made goosebumps form on my whole body. My eyes opened wide, and my heart started to drum fast.
My first day as the wife of the devil, Erick Villain begins.
