You weren't sure how it happened, well.. You know how it happened but you had fallen in love with your hairdresser. You had always loved getting your hair done. You loved getting different colors put in your hair, highlights, new hair styles. You loved leaving the hair salon and feeling like a completely different person.

What you loved more was being able to watch Phil in the mirror as he did your hair. He was so majestic, all his movements seemed so specific and planned out but so effortless at the same time. You also loved making conversation with him, he was very shy at first but after going to him a few times he opened up to you. Your favorite thing in the world was to hear him laugh, you didn't hear it often but when you did it always made you smile a bit more.

His accent was the sweetest thing you've ever heard, you could listen to him talk for hours. Sometimes you did depending on the service you were getting done. You have been in his chair for anywhere from 20 minutes to 4 hours depending on if you were there for just a cut, or if you wanted a cut and color done.

Today you were going to be there for at least two hours if you had to guess, you were getting your highlights touched up and your haircut. But you didn't mind. Every part of you wanted to tell Phil how you felt but you were afraid he would reject you and then you would have to deal with the embarrassment and find a new hair stylist.

When you walked into the hair salon you saw Phil finishing up with one of his other clients, he looked completely miserable and you felt bad for him. You didn't know if maybe the woman he was with was rude but he didn't seem to be enjoying doing her hair which was odd. Phil took great pride in his work. Once he finished her haircut he took her to the counter and checked her out then cleaned his station to prepare for you.

"Y/N, always a pleasure darling. Are you ready for today?" He greeted you.

"You know I'm always happy to see you Phil. You brighten my day."

Phil placed the cape over you and immediately started to cut your hair. There was another hairstylist not far away watching the two of you. You had never seen her before so she must have been new but you noticed the way she watched you and Phil. As if she was studying your interactions, it was very strange. Phil's voice caught your attention and pulled you from your thoughts.

"You waited longer than you normally do to get your hair touched up. You must have been busy the last few weeks." Phil commented when he saw how much your roots had grown out.

"Yeah, work has been hectic and when I'm not at work I just feel so drained that I didn't really feel like leaving the house much." You confessed.

"Wow, you didn't even want to leave the house to come see me. Your job must not be treating you very kindly."

"No, unfortunately it has been very busy lately and I just feel like I have no energy to do much of anything. Not even see my favorite stylist." You chuckled.

"Tell me, do you truly enjoy your job Y/N?" He asked you in a serious tone.

"I don't know, sometimes it's easy, other times it's hard but in all honesty none of it is enjoyable. I was always a more artistic kid, I never imagined having a desk job but my parents told me I wouldn't be able to live off of my artistic tendencies so I never pursued them." You explained.

"And what would you have done if you had?" He asked.

"I always like to do nails. I used to paint my grandmother's nails before she passed away. She always supported me but I haven't done nails in years since she passed away." You confessed.

"If you're not happy with your job then you shouldn't be there. This is something you are going to be doing almost everyday for the next few decades you might as well enjoy it. Otherwise you're going to be miserable. If you enjoy doing nails then go to cosmetology school, we have nail techs here and they are thriving." Phil was always so encouraging.

"I don't know, I haven't done nails in so long I doubt I'd be any good at it anymore. Plus, it's just not the same without my grandma." You signed.

"I'm sure if she was here she'd want you to do it." Phil replied, matter of factly.

"Maybe you're right... Is that new girl over there a nail tech? She's been looking at us pretty intensely since I got here." You said as you saw the girl once again giving you the evil eye.

"That's Kim, she's new but she's a hair stylist. I don't know what her deal is." Phil replied.

"She's been giving me the evil eye since the moment I walked in." You finally told him.

"Interesting, she got the last client I was working on all riled up too. I'll have to talk to her." Phil finished your haircut then took a step back to look at it. "Alright, your hair is all cut, I'm gonna get your color mixed up." He smiled then walked into the back to get the color. As he walked away you heard footsteps from behind you. When you turned around it was Kim walking towards you.

"Uh, hi." You said, very unsure of what was going on.

"You're very friendly with Phil." She was direct and to the point it seemed.

"Um, yeah. I've been coming to him for a long time and we've gotten pretty close." You confessed.

"Yeah, I think it's more than that. He would never date a client. I hope you know that." She sneered.

"Is this how you talk to everyone that comes in here? He told me you got his last client all riled up. What is your problem?" You furrowed your brows at her.

"It doesn't matter, I just don't like you girls coming in here flirting with him." She scoffed.

"Are you seeing him or something, have a crush on him. Either way you can't just treat his clients that he's been servicing for longer than you've been here like shit. You're going to cost him clients and in turn cost him money so knock it off he doesn't deserve that." You said with a little more attitude then you meant to.

"Maybe I just don't like watching you sluts flirt with him, it's obvious he's interested in me and I won't have any of you ruining it. I can tell you have a crush on him, you've been giving him goo goo eyes since you came in." She hissed.

"Even if I do have feelings for him, that's none of your business." You spat/

"He would never go for you."

"That is enough, what the Hell is wrong with you!?" Phils voice boomed from behind you both.

"Phil?" Kim gasped after seeing him. "This isn't what you think she..."

"She did nothing wrong. I heard the whole thing. I cannot believe you think for a second it's okay to speak to anyone that way! Get out, you're fired, I will email your check to you. I don't want you anywhere near my salon." He sounded completely disgusted.

Kim grabbed her things then stormed out, letting the door slam behind her. You sat there in silence, Phil just heard everything you just said, meaning he just heard you basically confess to having feelings for him. You sat there and braced yourself for the rejection as he turned to look at you.

"Listen, if you don't feel comfortable doing my hair now that you know what you know I understand. I can find another salon."

"I feel the same way about you Y/N." He cut you off. "I never said anything because you're my client and I didn't want to make you uncomfortable but... I have had feelings for you for a while now and if you would let me I'd like to take you out to dinner tonight if you're free."

"I'd like that."

"It's a date." He smiled.
