Severus

"Severus, darling I have to cover Minerva, you'll have to watch Ava during your free period." You tell your husband as you walk in the room with your 6 month old daughter on your hip.

"And why exactly do you have to cover Minerva's classes?" He asked, not looking up from his desk where he was marking papers.

"She's not feeling well. I told her to go see Poppy and rest for the day. It won't kill you to watch her." You scoffed. Severus rolled his eyes at you, taking your daughter and setting her in his lap.

"Of course it won't kill me, I was just curious as to why you wouldn't be joining us for our free period." He put emphasis on our.

"Well now you know. She's been fed and I just changed her diaper. If you want to bring the playpen in here so she can do tummy time while you mark papers feel free." You and Severus normally take turns holding her during free periods, one would work and the other would entertain your daughter. This way when the school day let out you could focus on spending time as a family and not school work.

"I might do that, I have many papers to mark unfortunately. Where are your papers? I will probably have time to mark some of yours as well." He said, setting down his quill and placing Ava on his desk so she could look at him.

"You don't have to do all that."

"Ah, none of that. I want you to be able to be present in our chambers when we're spending time together, not focusing on papers." He snapped his fingers and your papers appeared in his hand. "You don't even have much to grade. I should be through this before the period ends."

"Alright, alright. Thank you." You kiss his cheek.

"Of course. Go have fun with the little demons." He said referring to the first years. You rolled your eyes then kissed Ava's head before leaving.

"Your mother can be such a handful sometimes." He says to your daughter as if she can understand him. He went on to mark for another few minutes until Ava started to get fussy.

"Oh I know my love this isn't much fun for daddy either." He cradled her in his arms. She latched on to part of his robe and stuck it in her mouth.

"Ah, no. We do not eat clothes." He gently pulled his cloak from her mouth. He then lifted her lips a little to check her gums. "Hm, we're going to have to tell mommy that you're teething."

Standing from his chair he went into his personal chambers and grabbed a teething ring from the freezer.

"I told mommy you would be teething soon but she's in too much denial. She thinks you're growing up too fast and I must say I agree. I remember when you were first born and could fit in the palm of my hand. Your mother said she had roasted potatoes bigger than you." He cooed, putting ring in her mouth and watching her hold it and latch.

"I bet that feels better."

He had been working for another 20 minutes or so when a student passed by. She had come in to grab a book she left when she saw little Ava sitting on Severus' lap.

"Awe professor, is she yours?" She asked, looking over his desk at her.

Not many of the students knew about your daughter, you and Severus managed to cover it well until recently when you had to bring her to the castle now that school started. You had hidden your bump well during the end of last school year and given birth over the break but now you had no one to watch Ava. Albus assured you that you could bring her to the school. Part of you thinks Minerva had something to do with it because as soon as you walked inside on the first staff day Minnie charged you and scooped Ava up. Minerva would take her any chance she could. If you and Severus were at a function and Ava was there nine times out of ten Minerva had found a way to steal her away.
