You and Lionel kept your relationship private. For many different but the two big ones were because you were his secretary and the one was because of the age difference. You had started at Lionel's company about a year ago after his last secretary quit. His last secretary was a man and Lionel was more likely to take out his frustrations on a man than he was a woman. So when he pissed off the last one enough to quit there were only a few people who applied for the job, you being the only one with enough experience for him to even consider hiring.

After the interview he was impressed by you. He had made several sarcastic comments either to you or to people who walked into his office, disrupting his interview and you also had a witty come back. The fact you were able to think so quickly on your feet impressed him but what impressed him further was the fact you were willing to be sarcastic with him. Something no one probably ever would have expected from Lionel was that he wanted to work closely with someone who wasn't afraid to speak their mind. Not be rude but dish out the same sarcasm that he did.

He hired you on the spot and you and him worked very closely. Where he went you weren't far behind him. You were more than a secretary, you were also a mediator when the other employees got on his nerves you would step in and attempt to ease things in a less rude manner than Lionel typically did. This also held true outside work hours. There were many times Lionel would have you come to his house after work to go over things for the next day that you never got a chance to go over during the work day. You didn't mind, his house was nice and he also had his cook prepare you both dinner. He even went out of his way to learn some of your favorite dishes so his cook could prepare them for dinner on nights you'd be over.

Lionel had become smitten with you quickly and your little work meeting at his house turned into less of work meetings and more of excuses to see each other. Your relationship really started during a particularly busy period. Lionel had meetings everyday all day and you were at his house almost everyday after work preparing for the next day. One day things heated up when you were both at your breaking point from exhaustion and a small argument resulted in you both ending up in his bedroom with clothes on the floor.

You and Lionel have been together ever since. It's been almost 9 months since then and you both agreed to keep your relationship private for now. You didn't want it getting out until you reached the year mark. You felt it was the responsible thing to do, just to make sure you both could work as a couple long term.

The last couple weeks things seemed okay from Lionel's point of view, you had both been doing your usual thing. Working, going to his house, spending most nights together then going to work in separate cars in the morning. What he didn't see was one of the new young interns was flirting with him constantly and it made your blood boil. You kept thinking to yourself he knows and he just isn't correcting it when in truth he was obviously to it.

It was now the day of the Shabandar Halloween party and everyone was dressed in their Halloween costumes and drinking in Lionel's grand ballroom in his mansion. You never understood why he had a ballroom but you suppose it was for occasions like this. You were dressed as Harley Quin from the original Batman comics and Lionel was wearing a purple and green suit only. He refused to use fake hair color or face paint. You didn't know what he was going to for the party. You had told him you were going as Harley Quin and when you arrived early at his house he was dressed as a very unconvincing Joker. But according to him all he ever did for the Halloween party was dress in a more unconventional colored suit so this wasn't out of the ordinary for him.

You were drinking a glass of champagne and going back and forth between speaking and flirting with Lionel and talking to some of your other friends. You didn't want it to seem like you were only around Lionel.

"Have I told you how ravishing you look in that outfit?" Lionel purred in your ear from behind.

"Only three times now. I think you have a thing for seeing me in red." You teased.

"Mm, maybe. Do the undergarments match the outfit?"

"I guess you'll have to wait and see." You leaned back into him subtly then walked away making him growl.

The night went on and soon you were reaching the midnight hour, a few people were drunk most decently tipsy and others were the sober DD's. However there were three of you that you knew for a fact weren't drunk and that was you, Lionel and the intern Jen. Lionel might have had a slight buzz but you wouldn't even consider him tipsy at this point. One thing about Lionel was he could hold his alcohol. You had been talking to one of your friends when you saw Jen laughing and place her hand on Lionel's chest. You immediately saw red and walked over there. Within the time it took you to walk over there, there was now about a half an arms length distance between her and Lionel. You stepped between them.

"Lionel, could I have a quick word, I think."

"What's the excuse this time?" Jen interrupted.

"Excuse me?" You furrowed your brows.

"Everytime you see me and Lionel having a conversation you have to interject yourself. If you're jealous that's your fault. You've been his assistant for almost a year now, so I've heard. You should have made a move by now. He's single, he's allowed to flirt with other women and you don't have the right to interject yourself every time." She sassed. You scoffed and turned your face to Lionel giving him a look that said "You better get her before I do".

"That's enough. Miss Magee, that is entirely inappropriate. This may be a party but it is still a work party and I expect you to show the same kindness to your fellow colleagues just as you would if we were in the office. There's no excuse to speak to Y/N that way." Lionel scolded.

"I'm just saying you're an adult and you're single she doesn't need to be hovering over you." She tried to justify.

"I'm not single. Y/N and I have been seeing each other for a long time. I admit, I haven't picked up on your flirting but if I had I would not have let it slide." He confessed which surprised you. You weren't angry he confessed to your relationship but you truly thought you would be the one to bring up making it public because you didn't think he'd want to.

"You're dating her? I know you spend a lot of time with her but for that doesn't mean you have to date her. You have other options, you don't have to settle for your secretary." She scoffed.

"How dare you speak of her that way. I will have you know I am not settling, if anything she's settling for me. You accuse her of being jealous but do you hear yourself? You sound as if you are in high school but why should I be surprised you probably only graduated high school a couple years ago. I will have you know Miss Magee. I did not know your name until yesterday, you have in no way impressed me or made any sort of impression. When your internship here is finished I will probably forget about you by the end of the week. Now I suggest you head on home before I rethink allowing you to continue your internship at Shabandar industries." He replied angrily but with his natural bit of sarcasm.

"This is ridiculous, whatever." She scoffed and stomped away.

"Talk about juvenile." You said under your breath but loud enough for Lionel to hear.

"Yes, like I said I'm sure she's only a couple years out of high school." He nodded. "I hope you don't mind that I exposed our relationship, I'm sure she will spread the news like wildfire by tomorrow. I just couldn't stand to hear her speak about you that way." He took your hand in his.

"Honestly, I wanted to bring it up to you. I know we had agreed to wait until we had been together for a year. That way we knew we would work long term but, I know we're going to work. I think I've known for a while now. My life just feels better with you in it. I can honestly say that there's nothing about us that I would change. I was worried this week but I never said anything because I trust you, but her endless flirting was just so annoying."

"I didn't even notice." He assured you.

"You didn't notice? Not even once?"

"Darling, all I see is you." He cupped your face. "I love you."
"I love you too."
