You and your husband were professors at Hogwarts, this was your first year back teaching in 11 years when you and Severus had your daughter Evie. You wanted to continue your job but you and Severus agreed it didn't feel right leaving Evie with a nanny days a week so you and Severus could basically live at the castle. You both made the decision that when she came along you would quit and if a position became available by the time Evie was starting school you would take it. It just so happened that the same year Evie turned 11 and got her Hogwarts acceptance letter Professor Sprout decided to retire and Dumbledore immediately offered you the position. You and Severus both agreed it would be the perfect time for you to come back. Evie would be starting school and you and Severus would both be there.

Evie was excited to start school not just to learn but because this meant that she could see Severus everyday and not just on the weekends when he could come home. Evie loved you but she was a daddys girl through and through and she had the grumpy potions master wrapped around her finger before she could even speak. Everytime Severus had to leave to go back to Hogwarts Sunday night Evie would sob, she hated saying goodbye to her daddy.

It was the first day, the students had all been brought into the great hall so they could be sorted into their houses. You and Severus sat at the staff table waiting for Evie to be announced. You were a Gryffindor and Severus was a Slytherin so you were both curious as to which house Evie would be sorted into. You thought she showed traits of both houses so it was a toss up. You sat beside your husband as they went through the children. Patiently, or what you thought was patiently waiting for them to call your daughter up.

"You're shaking the entire table, love." Severus whispered in your ear. His deep voice cut through the noisy hall.

"Hm?" You asked, breaking out of your little trance.

"You're shaking your leg so bad you're shaking the entire staff table, relax." He chuckled.

"I'm just waiting for them to call her name. I'm curious what house she'll be in."

"Well if she's in Slytherin you know she'll be in good hands." He teased, a small smirk showing on his lips.

"If you do, say so yourself." You rolled your eyes playfully.

"I just hope if she is sorted into Slytherin that she can make some friends. Sometimes you get classes that are very cold." You said, holding his hand under the table.

"I know, love. I think she'll be okay." He assured you.

"Evelyn Snape!" Dumbledore called her name out. You quickly turned your face away from your husband and back to the front of the room. Evie walked up the steps and sat in the chair where professor McGonagal placed the sorting hat on her head.

"Hm, many different traits, many indeed. Some like your mother, some like your father, but which are the most prominent. I think. Slytherin!" The hat yelled. The Slytherin table cheered and your daughter looked back at you and Severus. You smiled bright at her and you even saw Severus' lip twitch up just a bit. You nodded and she ran off to join the Slytherin table where they seemed to accept her with open arms.

"She'll be fine." Severus whispered.

After dinner the students were taken to their dorms to find their rooms, and unpack. By the time they were finished unpacking and the head boys and girls handed out the students schedules it was past curfew and time for bed. You and Severus were getting your shared quarters set up as well during this time because once curfew hit you and Severus had the night patrol from 9pm to midnight to make sure no students were out of the dorms past curfew.

"I bet you didn't miss this part of the job." Severus said, walking beside you. Both your wands lit up the corridor.

"This is definitely one of the things I did not miss." You nodded.
