.: Ty's POV :.
A few days have passed since Mitch's funeral, the days still uneasy. We're not planning to make one for Kia anytime soon, even though Bloodie pleaded as much as he could.
We probably should've done that since he doesn't come back here in the base anymore. All he does is just sit around the burnt ashes of her house, ignoring whoever passed and saw.
He isn't in good condition either, he hasn't eaten, causing guilt to most of us. But, there's nothing more guilt that built up inside me than just simply thinking about Adam.
(if you don't like gay things excuse this part or actually don't even continue reading the book because it's gonna be really gay)
As his childhood friend, it's really hard to let him go. As gay as that sounds, it is. He's obnoxious, annoying, and...too caring.
He wouldn't let any of us be touched, hurt, or even go outside at night. Like an overprotective mom, you could say. On special occasions, he would guard the gate himself at night, especially right after another squid fight broke out.
Every morning after that, we would always see him asleep next to the gate, bruised and his swords stabbed down to the ground. (reference to kia's meeting on chapter 9)
Squid fights eventually died down, Sky going back to his usual routine inside the base. But, that didn't stop recruits from going in his steps. Lots and lots did the same, always guarding the gate.
The final one was Kia, yet she did it everyday. Tired, sleepy, she didn't care. No one else minded, checking every now and then. Well, of course all of that stopped when she died, obviously.
Everyone knew by now, most of them still mourning over Mitch, mostly Jerome taking in that pain.
Well, enough with my blabbering, on with the plot.
Night time passed quickly, everyone waking up for morning exercise. I woke up the earliest, killing some time as I watched the dim blue sky fade to a bright orange.
The bright sun gleamed in it's glory, a faint smile forming on my face. "Hope you're havin' fun up there, Mitch." I said, enjoying the view.
Faint steps sounded behind me, proceeding with a loud yawn. I turned around and smiled at Jerome, both of our hair a mess.
"Mornin' bro." I greeted, walking over to him and giving a pat onto his back. He greeted me with a small smile, yawning once again. "Did you cook me my breakfast yet?" Jerome joked, making me chuckle.
"No, go make your own dumbass." I stated, walking away from the bacca. I walked out to Kia's house, seeing it for the final time.
I stared at Bloodie who was still sitting on the ashes of what used to be a house, his skin pale and his eyes dimmed to a gray. I quietly walked up to him and sat closely, gently placing a hand on his back.
"You were freed from that room only a few days ago and you're still getting yourself in danger. What are you doing?" I grumbled at him, getting no response.
My hand flinched at the tiny scales behind his back, piercing my palm. "Especially since that danger is yourself." I continued, taking my hand back.
He still kept silent, staring down at the burnt grass. I sighed and stood, walking away from him. "I'm not coming back here. Feel free to go back to the base if you need anything." I left, walking back in the direction of the base.
I opened the large doors, entering quietly. The room was empty, no sound to be heard at all. The atmosphere was unnerving, like something was wrong.
My wrists started to itch, like something was eating at it. I hissed, trying to stop. I didn't want them to open, that pain was unbearable.
But, yet, they did. My wrists stung, the small yet deep slits showing a crimson red color. I looked and gritted my teeth, glaring at my self-inflicted injuries.
"I didn't expect for it to open again." I whispered, staring angrily at the dark red liquid that started to seep through the cuts. Then, for a moment, a voice whispered inside my head.
It's your fault.
