You had seen your girlfriend in many states. From plain clothes while working for WCKD, to lab coats, to half decent outfits in the Glade, to dirty ones in the Scorch, you knew how she looks basically every way. You had also seen her in every mental state. Determined to find a cure, calm around the people she cares for, stressed about the pressure put on her, happy around you, upset about her mothers and others suffering, and conflicted on whether or not to call WCKD. She told you and you alone about the last one.

At first, you called her insane. You essentially scolded her for even considering it. You threatened to tell everyone if she even thought about it again.

She didn't talk to you after that. She couldn't even look at you. Not when you cut her off before she could explain how bad it truly was. Not when you were already looking at her like you hated her.

Then, Winston died. He wasn't immune so he got the Flare. He wasn't immune so he had to shoot himself. He wasn't immune so nobody will ever see him again.

You finally realized why. You finally understood. So much so that you agreed to do everything to save the world with her, including betrayal.

She was in a weird state after that. Some days, she focused on nothing but the cure. Others, she was essentially silent as she thought about her friends.

When she met Cheyenne, she remembered again. She remembered why this had to happen. She remembered that the outcome was worth the current suffering.

You looked at your sweetheart through the window, watching her make an exaggerated expression so the little girl could laugh. She was doing absolutely everything to make her pain better. Her cure and love for the child she just met was more than admirable. Plus, it was just adorable to see in general.

Teresa herself looked better in general. Her hair was down, neatly brushed and out of her face. Her clothes finally fit just right, not hugging her features in a way that made her uncomfortable but not so loose they hung off of her body.

It was two things. Her confidence that she could save the world and kind smile that was impossible not to stop and stare at.

Despite having the brains and beauty of a goddess, she was somehow only human. She was somehow the same species as you. So yes. Sometimes doubts about it crossed your minds. And it's possible that they're right. Maybe this truly was the wrong decision.

But when you both saw how much the other seemed so in their element when working, even if your eyes held remorse for your friends, you were only solidified that this was the right thing.
