AARON'S POV:

The previous luxury of air coming in and out of my airways in such a natural flow, I don't even have to think about it - all that has been thrown away. Breathing has become a chore and I feel like I'm slipping back into my old ways - the morning panic attacks that were so bad I had to take medication. I need my medication right now. I forget this new person I have become - Aaron - not Warner, not this newer man that I turned into, a better man, for Juliette.

Seeing my father, hearing his nasty, harsh tone, it reverses all the healing I managed to accomplish. The shell of a man I was had come back - like a safety blanket.

"Oh hello Aaron." He turns to me, smirking. "How lovely to see you." The sarcasm that's attached to his words, the cruel sting to his tone hits me like a harsh remind of cruel and gruesome memories that cause sleepless nights - many of them. "I've been hearing some interesting things about you and your..." he pauses for a moment, 'tutting' through his teeth, "fiancée. You have been busy I see."

I try and muster a response but I can't. Simply can't.

"Awe," he mocks me, "I see you indeed  believed  I was dead." His tone shifts from mocking to serious in seconds. "I thought I'd taught you better, son. Expect the unexpected."

"Sir." I feel Delelui shift besides me, his hand finds my shoulder, a small show of support, sympathy, a sign of reassurance that he's here for me - and to that, I will be forever be indebted to him for. "You look well for someone who was shot twice."

Anderson laughs, like Delelui has just said the funniest joke in the world. "Oh Delelui, Delelui, you never fail to make a mockery of yourself." His face scrunches with mockery directed towards, of course, Delelui. "You figured out the logic yourself, Delelui, why ask a question you have already answered yourself."

I find my footing once more, regaining control of myself. I reach for the inner pocket of my blazer, griping the handle of my gun, swinging my forearm, pulling the gun out and pointing at my father, Anderson, Paris Anderson.

"Oh Aaron." Once again, Anderson laughs, shaking his head. "I see your brains come from your mothers side, you can thank Delelui and his dead wife for that."

Delelui tenses next to me. I never knew my grandmother, my mothers mother, but I know that she died when my mother was a baby. I also know that my grandmother, Dalia Warner, and my grandfather, Delelui Warner, were deeply in love. Delelui once said to me that Juliette and I remind me of him and Dalia.

"Paris!" Growls Delelui, using my fathers first name. I have only ever heard Delelui address my father by his name a handful of times. "Don't speak of my wife."

"Your dead wife." Anderson shoots back. "Oh I have a dead wife as well- oh wait, my dead wife is your daughter. Your only child."

I take a long, furious inhale of breath, remembering my mother and her pained screams, the way her eyes changed from full of life to empty and hollow.

"Father..." I lock my fingers on the trigger, the gun in my hand weighs heavy. My finger finally pulls the trigger but, due to the fact that I am quite literally shaking, the bullet that I fired hits him in the left shoulder.

"Really Aaron?" Father pulls the pocket square from his blazer front pocket, taking the piece of material and dabbing at the blood that's spilling from his newly inflicted wound. "That's all you have in you? A bullet to the shoulder?" It's a genuine question - one that I chose not to answer. "The Aaron that I made never missed a shot."

The reference 'the Aaron I made' hits hard because he'd right. He perfectly crafted a cold hearted, merciless, feared boy that made med and women five times my age to cower in fear. In terror.

"You know I'm right, son." His tone is laced with the same insult that I once was so used to I almost missed it - but now, now that I haven't had to put up with him for so long, now I can hear it loud and clear.

"Why are you here?" I manage to put together four words, the gun in my hand still ready to fire at a moments notice. "Why turn up now?"

"On so you have gathered your remaining sanity and managed to regain your voice." He chuckles, lightly. "For a moment there you had me thinking you had fallen into the same insane state that you little fiancée once fell in."

"Warner!" James small voice comes from the door way, before he enters the room, completely freezing when he sees our father. "D-dad..." his voice trembles, his lip practically quivering. "Dad aren't you supposed to be dead?" He asks, practically the same question Delelui and I have just asked him as well.

"Ah James Alexander Kent Anderson." He says James's full name as a way of trying to intimidate him.

"Dad." Is all the small boy can say.

"How wonderful to see you, son. I heard that Adam left you, shame." He mocks the child. "Though I always wondered why he never left you and your winey ass on the street a long time ago."

"Father!" I shout, loading the gun for the chamber has shifted so the next bullet it ready to be fired.

"What?" He laughs, reaching inside his blazer and pulling out a pistol of his own, though he is pointing it at James. "Come on Aaron, don't be foolish. You know I'll kill him."

I lower the gun that I have been clenching. "Alright, fine."

James let's out a breath of relief when Anderson turns the gun from him, though he tenses up again when he sees who the gun is now pointed at.

"Anderson?" Juliette's sleepy voice comes from around the corner and from the angle we are standing, only James and Anderson can see her. "James are you okay?" The exhaustion in her tone shifts immediately and she is in defence mode. "Did he hurt you?"

"Oh come on Miss Ferras," laughs Anderson, newly found mockery in his tone, "do you think I would hurt my own son?" He laughs, as if it's a joke. A sick, sick joke.

This isn't going to end well.

Not well at all.
