JULIETTE'S POV:
The smell of antiseptic wipes and hand sanitizer erupts my senses, leaving me feeling as if I have a blocked up nose.
The room that I am in is small, sterile and cold. Those three words are the only three ways this place can be described, it is, to put it simply, depressing. The whole room looks colourless and gloomy, not a pop of colour in sight. A single window, small and thin, lay to my left, across the room - outside it is all but the view of a black, bleak wall.
Nothing in this room shows that this place is to make people feel better, in fact, it tells quite the opposite story. It looks as if you are in a room designed to suck all the fun out of life.
"Miss Ferras, can you hear me?" Someone asks from beside me. I turn to look and see a flock of medical personnel staggered in various places of the room. The one who just asked me a question looks to be a male around the age of forty, he has blond, turning slightly grey, hair that lays on top of his head as if it is out of place - he has brown eyes that slightly wrinkle whenever he moves his face. "Miss Ferras?" He asks once more.
"Y-yeah." I manage, stumbling over what I was saying. "I can hear you."
There is a slight look of relief that washes over him before his face falls neutral again. "How are you feeling, miss?" He pulls a chart from the table next to the hospital bed I'm lying on. "Are you experiencing any aches? Any pain?" He continues, but I am too busy searching the room for the one person I feel I would listen to right now - Aaron. "Do you feel sick at all? Dizzy? Confused?"
"Where is Aa-" I stop myself before I use his real name. "Where is Warner?"
The doctor turns to look at one of the nurses, signalling something that, from where I lay, I cannot make out what it is. "He will be informed of your awakening right now."
"Miss," the doctor pushes once again, this time some of the patience in his voice is lacking, "I understand that you want to ask questions but I need you to answer me before I can entertain them."
Though I understand that he is just doing his job, right now I don't care - all I want is Aaron. I want him to hold my hand. I want him to tell me everything's okay. "Okay." I say, turning my attention to the man who is trying, so desperately, to do his job.
"Do you feel any pain?" He plucks the pencil from the side of his clipboard.
"No. Everything kind of aches, though." I roll my arms back, trying to relive some of the pent up tension.
"Okay, thank you." He writes that down on the paper attached to the clipboard. "Do you feel sick at all?"
I shake my head.
"No, okay, good." He smiles. "Any dizziness or lightheadedness?"
"I feel slightly dizzy but nothing major." I relay the information.
"Any confusion."
"Only the normal amount when you wake up in a hospital room."
A small chuckle comes from his mouth, before he continues to write down whatever it is he is babbling about on that sheet of paper.
Just as the male doctor is about to ask me another question, the door is opened with speed that, if the door weren't as sturdy as it is, would surely crack the material.
"Aaron..." I manage to breathe when I see his face come into view. I feel as if the world has become whole again.
Because he's here.
He came for me.
"Juliette." His voice sounds almost broken, like he is hanging on to his own sanity by a single thread.
