Since getting home I've been swamped with work, spread too thin in almost every direction. It's a never ending revolving door of meetings, hours lost locking myself away putting pen to paper just to try to get this story done before a scarily close new deadline.
The twelfth of January.
Only a month before our due date.
Noah knocks lightly on the door frame, a blue ceramic mug of tea in one hand, a cream one in the other and a sleepy grin on his lips.
"Baby girl, how long have you been in here?" He croaks, his smile sleepy and he places the cream mug infront of me.
"I actually don't know... I got up around five. I couldn't sleep..." I answer honestly picking up the mug warming my hands. "I just... my brain won't switch off. All these new deadlines are kinda starting to stress me out." I half sigh half laugh looking up to Noah.
"It's a lot." He agrees kneeling before me his eyes locking on mine. "You've got this though baby, you always do."
"I just wanna get it done. I'm actually pretty far behind schedule." I admit anxiously biting my lower lip. "The original plan was to have it complete and ready to go to release for Christmas. It's gonna struggle to even get it complete for January but I want to focus on little one in the new year. I wanna take some time out to relax and enjoy our family... Fuck, I really have to meet this deadline."
"Mar you will. I know you." Noah says softly taking the tea out my hands placing it back down on the desk.
He kneels closer pressing a light kiss to my forehead, his lips lingering.
"Just don't burn yourself out." He whispers and I shake my head.
"I won't, I just really have to get this done. I'm starting to feel the pressure."
"You will get it done. Just remember to breathe. For us... for bean..." His words carry the worry he's too afraid to say outright.
He's nervous for what the stress could mean for me and for the baby.
"You're gonna take your birthday off right? I really have made plans for us." Noah ask but I can hear the nerves biting under the casual tone.
"Yeah of course I am. I heard birthday plans, ain't no god damn way I'll be working if that's the case." I smile instantly seeing the relief flood his face.
"Thank god. I really thought I was gonna have to argue with you." He winks still kneeling before me, his hand lazily placed on my thigh.
"Fuck no." I giggle shaking my head. "I'm excited to see what you've planned." I smile and he taps the side of his nose, eyes sparkling, grin wide.
"Classified information. Y'know that means no sneaking off to send emails or to quickly write a couple of pages." Noah teases and I shake my head.
"I promise I wont. I will be completely devoted-"
"To me." Noah cuts me off with a smug look, raising his brows.
"Ay, calm down. I will be completely devoted to taking the day off. To relaxing or whatever it is that you have planned." I correct him rolling my eyes.
"It's a big one, good ol' twenty six."
"Right, less of the ol' please and thank you sir." I scold making him chuckle.
"Old..." Noah pokes my thigh deliberately, seeing how far he can push the joke.
"Noah, watch yourself or you won't make it to twenty nine." I warn narrowing my eyes trying to look as stern as I can muster.
