I swirl the remnants of my iced coffee in my hand, feeling the ice knock softly against the plastic as I look out the passenger window. The higher up the mountain we climb the road becomes more and more narrow.
"Big Mike's" by Dijon plays through the speakers, making the drive feel like a movie montage moment and I can't help but smile at myself.
"Do you know how much longer we've got?" I ask looking to Noah who has one hand steady on the wheel, the other relaxed, his eyes focused on the road ahead.
"I think another twenty minutes or so. Are you okay baby girl?" He asks and I nod shifting in my seat.
"I kinda need to pee." I exhale earning a low chuckle from Noah.
"Of course you do." He smirks glancing over at me. "You said you were okay ten minutes ago."
"I lied. To myself and you." I confess and he snickers shaking his head.
"Oh wow, I can't believe you would betray me like that." Noah quips deadpan as the road curves deeper into the woodland.
"I might piss my pants and it'll be all your fault. We have more pressing problems than my betrayal." I grin pressing my thighs together as if that might somehow help.
"Hey, I offered to stop back there."
"You absolutely did not."
"I implied it." He argues his lips twitching. "I gave a vibe."
"Noah don't make me laugh, I actually will pee myself." I say biting back the laughter.
"We're nearly there. Worst case scenario I'll pull over and-"
"No." I cut him off giving him my best glare. "I am not squatting roadside like some feral creature."
"Desperate times call for desperate measures." He smirks eye brows raised in amusement.
"I mean it Noah." I cross my arms, scrunching my nose but I can't help the smirk that twitches at my lips. "I have dignity."
"Oh? You do?"
"Yes I certainly do."
"Hmm, interesting. Dignity? I didn't know that was what we were calling it now." He grins enjoying this way too much.
"Yes and I would like you to respect that." I huff a smile still on my lips.
"Baby," His southern drawl drips over the word like honey. "I respect it, I just don't believe it."
"Hey Noah?"
"Yeah?"
"Don't fuck with a pregnant woman's hormones." I warn and he lets out a low chuckle.
"Noted baby girl..." He replies taking one hand off the wheel holding it up as if he's surrendering. "I'm just saying, in my defence, you are statistically more dramatic when you need a pee."
"Statistics can fuck off." I groan only making him laugh again.
"I promise we're almost there." He reassures placing his hand over mine giving it a gentle squeeze.
"Is that statistically or actually?" I scowl at him my words sarcastic.
"Actually." He smiles and I just roll my eyes in reply. "Scouts honour."
"You better be right Noah." I smile back at him and he glances over at me, checking my expression and nodding.
"Yeah you gotta go or else. Message received loud and clear." He grins trying to hide his smirk.
