3rd Person POV

Red and Purple sat in silence, disguises plastered over their forms like a filter as they waited in a silver and blue booth of a tiny Vortian run café. The two had been pouting at one another for over 5 minutes, neither wanting to adress the Florpus in the room.

"Here are your Shmoothies and one Donut for the Syncorian" Spoke a waitress, easing their order onto the counter steadily, with the experience and grace of someone who had been doing the job for years. "Enjoy!"

As quick as she arrived, she was gone and promptly off to serve the next table.

"Just one Donut? You on a diet or something?" Questioned Red, quirking up his hologram brow in confusion.

"I'm not hungry..." Purple grumbled, directing his gaze away from Red as the purple glow of his antennae flickered in frustration.

The two sunk into a tense silence, not even making an attempt to reach for their drinks. The apprehension was so thick you could cut it with a knife and it only created a cloud over the atmosphere of the café. Customers who wanted to stop by would immediatley walk back out, feeling the intensity before even noticing the two aliens glaring at one another.

Everyone held their breath.

The silence lingered.

And then it was over.

"It's been a while since it's been just the two of us..." Red noted aloud, dropping into a more casual demeanour and resting his arms against the back of his chair.

The rest of the café sighed in relief, slowly building up from quiet murmuring to collective conversation.

"Yeah..." Purple hummed, "I can't believe we've been exiled with Y/n for 5 months"

"Feels like years"

The two snorted.

"That human..." Purple smiled fondly, "They really know how to worm their way into your squiddlyspooch"

"Especially yours, right?" Red teased, prompting the Syncorian disguise in front of him to flush aggressively and his antennae begun to brighten.

Red grinned knowingly as Purple began to sputter incoherent rebuttals against what they both already knew was entirely true. It was to be expected though.

Irkens, by nature were always discouraged to think of love as anything but weakness and every time the feelings would conjure within their squiddlyspooch, most irkens would attempt to drive off the feelings or erase them from their paks completely.

Red had attempted to erase his the first time he gained feelings for Purple. He struggled to find the source and ended up erasing something else by mistake. To this day, he doesn't entirely know what it was he erased.

Purple never made an attempt to erase his feelings. Pak maintenence was never his forte and asking another irken to help was just begging to be labelled defective. So he attempted to ignore his infatuation until he no longer could.

"Even you have to admit that Y/n is...something else" Purple finally calmed down enough to form a complete sentence, still highly flushed but now coherent.

Reds cheeks darkened slightly in response, the blush on his cheeks lightly dusted underneath his eyes. It was so subtle on his disguises maroon skin, that Purple didn't even take notice of it.

"I..."

Red stopped himself, catching the attention of his fellow Ex Tallest. He could be honest with both himself and Purple, like Y/n had suggested. Or he could keep playing games until he finally loses...
