I make sure she's gone and then head up the stairs to tuck Henry in.
He sits on the edge of his bed, reading a book. He puts it down when he sees me.
"Lights out young man" I smile
"Okay" he replies, climbing into bed
He lowers himself into the pillows and I pull the blankets over him and kiss his forehead softly.
"Goodnight" I smile
"Mom?" he says as I'm about to leave
"Yes" I nod
"Things will work out you know? You just need to have hope" he says
I smile and nod at him, not believing him. Quietly I shut the door behind me.
