~Rose's POV~

Zero and I ran into the clock tower and climb up the stairs as fast as we could.

What was Yuki doing in here?

We could hear the clock tower toll as someone was making the gears rotate. There was a ladder so I let Zero climb up first and I followed.

We then both suddenly stopped. Everything was silent and I heard Kaname explain to Yuki that it was a level e vampire.

Ah now I remember! Jason once told me that a level end vampire use to be humans and this all happened because a purebloods bite them....

In sudden realization I turned to Zero. His story....he use to be a human... I hear them leave and I stare at the wall.

"Zero...." I said. He understood that I pieced it together. "Yes, I'll become one of those uncontrollable level end vampire." I finally understood why the rouge vampire called him 'comrade'.

I mean, I've understood that he'd become a level e vampire but I guess I hadn't really thought about it because it just hit me like a ton of bricks that one day, I'm going to see Zero, his body hunching over the body of an innocent victim who strayed from a crowd.

Like an animal.

"Zero... Is there any way to stop it?" I asked not knowing what I should say, not looking him in the eye. I turned around, "We have to find a way to stop this!"

"There isn't anything you can do about it," Zero said, "This isn't your problem,"

"Yes it is!" I said panicing. Zero's actually going to die. He's going to die a slow and painful death and worse of all, he'll continue to cause pain post-death.

I'll never be able to poke fun at him again, hang out with him again, see him again for that matter.

"How?" He said, "How does me dying make it your problem?!" Zero repeated.

I looked on the ground, unable to make up any excuse.

"Come on Zero. We should go back now," I said quietly.

"Oh......" he said. I really couldn't believe that he forgot I had night classes, "Your wearing your uniform..." he finished in realization.

"What?! Didn't you notice when Martha pointed it out?!" I said overly surprised.

"Well...I was zoned out. Yuki had found my box of blood tablets and thinks I'm sick or something." said Zero as we walked down the tower.

"Oh really. So that's why you left distraught, she must of followed you," I said, realizing this was a complete change of subject.

He helped me down and around the rickety stairs we hadn't noticed and managed to luckily skip as we darted up.

"Well not really, Rose," Zero said mockingly, "she's just decided that she would waltz alone into the creepy part of town. You know she doesn't like being alone. It freaks her out."

"Awwww, that's so sweet! She's gonna face her phobia to see if your okay!" I said.

"Stop that we need to hurry and get back to the academy before dark remember?" said Zero.

We made it back to the academy before dark that's to say.

I was also sure that Yuki had already escorted the night class to the school on her own too.

"Hey..." I said, "Do you ever think about skipping class?" I asked Zero.

"Yes," he said in a short answer, "Have you ever skipped class then?" I asked.
