~Zero's POV~
I was running to the source of the blood. The presence of vampires were already hard enough to stand, but now there was a human who defended the leeches like they had any humanity.
I look beside me to see her easily keeping up with me, jumping over the terrain like she'd been here all her life. She did look like a vampire though. Her skin radiated in the moonlight and her pale illuminated skin furthered my thoughts of her being a child of the night. The long black locks had a silver hint to it and there was no fallacy to my reasoning. She was just as annoying as them as well.
I turned away from her, keeping my focus. Yuki. She could be in trouble right now.
You like her don't you! If you don't tell her, I might!
Why did I hear her voice at a time like this? I could already tell that she meant trouble for me. Running ahead of me, she found the light of a clearing. "Yuki!" She called out, seeing her ahead.
Yuki. Why was she so into trusting vampires? She was just saved once. Once did not mean that they were worthy of any trust. They'll manipulate anyone just to get what they wanted. They were untrustworthy and filthy.
Jumping out into the clearing, Rose came between the monster and Yuki in a flash. His fangs extended out and Yuki's hands bled and one had the bite of a vampire.
Acting quickly, Rose covered Yuki and pushed Aido back, however it wasn't far enough for me. Yuki, shocked that a vampire at Cross Academy would attack her, dropped her staff and Artimis rolled away. She clutched her hand so tightly, her knuckles turned white.
Fury coursed through me. The insufferable leech finally snapped and drank blood. Starting with Yuki was his first and last mistake. Going up, I pulled Yuki in my embrace and held her back before I pointed my gun at Hanabusa once more. I didn't know if I was more angry at myself for allowing something like this to happen or the mere existence of the vampire; the monster.
Aido wasn't as big of a coward in the face of Bloody Rose as long as Rose stood by his side. "What's the matter, Aido? Not a chicken now that you have a girl beside you?"
"Hey, let's not start name-" Rose was interrupted.
Aido pointed at me from behind Rose, "She tasted very sweet Zero. Too bad you were having a little rendezvous with Rose." he said with a satisfied smirk on his face.
"Hey!" Rose shouted, offended that she was being ignored. Aido pushed her to the side, "Stay away, Rose." he demanded of her, his tone had changed. She opened her mouth to protest, but her eyes flicked recognition a second later and she moved out of the way willingly and cautiously.
Why would she listen so obediently to a monster like him but toy around, tricking her own kind? I snapped and shot him. If I blinked I almost would have missed the whip wrap around Hanabusa's legs to take them out from under him. Moving past the original target, my bullet hit Rose once more.
She fell from the impact and rolled over in groan. "I think it's getting worse." she said, trying to pass off the pain like it wasn't a big deal, "Yeah, I think it's getting worse, but I am not dead! It's probably gonna leave a red welt this time."
"If it doesn't hurt you why do you fall when I shoot you?" I asked.
"Zero! That could have killed him!" Rose said, looking up. She was unbelievable. Hanabusa quickly took the whip off and cowered.
"Why would you stick up for scum like him?" I asked her, trying to think of any good excuse but found none worthy to spare the scum the vampire was.
