Rolling over in my sleep, I fell off the bed.
Laying on the ground, I debated whether or not it was worth getting up and doing the duties of my job, or sleep in.
I must have fell asleep at some point in my mental debate, because the next thing I remember is someone poking my side with their finger.
Opening an eye, I peeked at the intruder, bemused at their attempts to check me for life. "I'm still alive, jerk." I weakly pushed Jason away with a friendly but faint smile.
"Happy Birthday." He greeted with the same smile. Petting my head, Jason stared at me for a while. "I wasn't able to see you for two years and missed your birthday."
"And I missed yours." I rolled over onto my stomach.
"Well, I went to the store and there was this lady. She was one of those old small ladies that you would accuse of witchcraft, and well, she was selling handmade candles, sweet apples and oddly enough, frog legs. Since it's your birthday, I decided that you deserved a homemade cake with a candle. So it's apple cake."
"Did the witch say anything about poisoned apples, magic candles and princely frogs?" I asked, rolling over.
"Yes, dangerous warnings of how the apples were to be washed before eating and fire was to be handled with care." He nudged me lightly to push me up. Sarcasm laced his voice and I relished in the sound of it. Oh, god, if I were to live a year without it again...
"No." I complained, "I don't want to get up."
"Get up anyway and blow out your candle." He smiled and snapped his fingers and a flame lit on the wick. I couldn't hide the smile that forced it's way to the surface of my lips. The corners tipped up and I sat up excitedly.
"What do I wish for?"
"It'll grant your deepest most sincere wish." he smiled. I looked at him then at the candle. I didn't have a most sincere wish...did I? I blew out the candle.

"Wake up!" Jason threw a pillow at me. My eyes shot open, surprised. I laid in the comfort of my blanket and pillow. Then a couple more were thrown at me. "We're late for school!" I rolled over, slightly agitated and disoriented and discombobulated. What was going on? I turned my head and peaked from between the pillows and saw Jason jumping over his bed and into the bathroom while holding his toothbrush.
I shot up. The impact of what he said hit me. "What?!" Those vampires can not think of me as a slacker....Or well they can, but....
"Hurry!" He threw on his jacket and pulled me out of bed. "Hurry, hurry, hurry!"
"What's going on?" I asked, he was completely freaking, "Did something happen?"
"We overslept, that's what happened!" He said, pulling the blinds to show me that Kaname was waiting on us along with the rest of our friends as the night class walked on towards the gate.
My breath caught and my heart jumped at the sight of them. Kaname was there. He didn't seem to look as if he was going around committing acts of murder. Ruka and Kain was there. Kain tugged on Ruka's hair calmly as she passive aggressively shunned Hanabusa. Shiki and Rima and Takuma crowded around a single manga book.
An aching in my heart returned. What was this? My wish? Was this something I wanted but couldn't have? The swelling, squeezing pressure in my chest grew and I looked at Jason, jaw dropped.
"Exactly," he said, misinterpreting my speechlessness, "Hurry it up."
"I'll...I'll be right there!" I said, rushing to go put on my stuff. I could feel it. I was human again. I was no longer Rose the Pureblood. I was Rose Megumi Silver. I rejected the uniform and slapped on a navy blue button up and white shorts. Running out in strappy sandels, I burst out into the cold air after Jason.
