Prepreations for the Ball

I lounged around and shot up, suddenly sensing what Kaname was doing.

He was giving his blood to Yuki.

It was funny how all of us Purebloods could sense each other. Especially when the other has made a move. We can sense what the other is doing and what the aristocrats are up to...or whatever their intentions were.

It made this a dark, cold and small world.

I closed my eyes and set myself apart from everything. Drawing my knees up closer to my body, I sat in a pair of white skinny jeans and an oversized dark green sweater, fit for Jason...

I didn't feel like dressing out today and looking at my old clothes made me envy my old self and I began to see why the others would want to become my friends back when I was human.

I sat cuddled in my chair, wearing the clothes of the girl who died a year ago.

Would I still be the same? Am I still the same?

*Knock knock*

I stood up and jumped off my chair. Right. Look lively.

"Yep?" I answered my door.

It was Hanabusa.

"Hey I just wanted to-" He stopped short, seeing me in my outfit. Smiling, he said, "Wow, you look like...what you did back then,"

Back then. Pastime.

I laughed, "I know right, I did it on impulse because I didn't feel like dressing out."

He studied me and said, "You look lovely."

Before I could consume myself in self-pity, I started talking, "Um, so you came here for something?"

"Uh, um....Yeah....well....." Hanabusa said, "Wow, Rose, you really surprised me." turning to look away, his action brought a smile to my face.

Laughing lightly, I said, "Come on Hanabusa, spit it out."

"I....just wanted to say that I can help you prepare for the ball....." he said, "So if you ever need anything, I'll help....so....I'll be going now,"

"Bye," I said, smiling at his sudden shyness. Was my old self missed that much?

"Uh, yeah, um, bye," he said.

Closing the door, I let my smile fall.

Sitting back in to my chair, it reminded me of the one Kaname kept at the academy.

Laying on it, I leaned over and started playing with a yoyo, throwing myself a pity party, featuring me, population me.

The party...I'll be introduced along with Yuki but I'd be alone. This should be my chance to secure a good impression on both the associations eyes and that I may be looked upon positively by them.

That way the people who followed me can be seen as noble and not just wrapped around my finger. It's time to grow up, rise, and step up to position.

I want to really protect these people right?

Looking at it go up and down, I sighed. Was I really this bored?

I nodded, really determined. I was going to Kaname with this. Eagerly, I started to walk and transported myself to his room, not breaking stride, "Kaname!" I said, putting up a smile, but I saw that he was busy. He was making invitations. Forgetting my plans from earlier, I raised my eyebrows in surprise. "Why don't you ask me or your fiancee to do this with you?"

"Well, she's sort of in a rut. Somewhat punishing herself if you can say." Kaname said with a small smile on his face.

"Right, right," I said, not sure what he meant by that. "I would have thought that taking your blood would be enough but she's still at it."
