Accidents Can Happen

I waited atop the roof. From this view, I could see Yuki and several other groups surrounding the building in a circle with a radius of 50 meters.

I held Aeteternum's handle tightly. I wore beige skinnies and brown boots that came up to my knee, a white button up and a thick brown leather belt to hold Aeternum's sheath. It also connected to a wrap on my thigh, holding Sterling.

Suddenly people from the building started coming out. They were running in panic, desperate not to get caught. An auction. For the body of a living girl....

I gripped Aeternum's handle before jumping down; there were 2 people coming my way. I jumped from the building and softly landed in front of them, meters away.

They started to back up slowly, prepared to turn away. I got up and brushed the dirt off my hands. As I took a step, pain shot up my legs and my abdomen started to burn as if I was in a fire. I felt to the ground as my head was sent spinning uncontrollably.

They took my pain and disorientation as their chance of escape. They turned to run but before they could get far, I held out my hand in a silent command to stop them. But as soon as I found my tongue, I forced one word, "Stop!"

Suddenly, they stopped, frozen on spot. In mid run, as soon as I had commanded, their bodies stopped moving, defying Newton's 1st law of motion. A body in motion stays in motion......unless acted upon by an outside force.

I got up and stumbled over to them, bumping against the wall. As I got closer, the pain started faded away from my body. I then when black dots stopped dancing, I realized in horror that they were slowly disintegrated into ashes.

Without meaning to... I had killed them. I put my hand to my mouth, to suppress a cry. What had I just done. All I had said was stop.....

Looking around, there was no one. No one was around to see what had just happened I fell to my knees. Killing the council was by impulsive control of my powers. This was.....This was what I was scared of. Losing control of my powers.

I got up and dragged myself over to Yuki.

A pile of ashes were left next to her feet. A human girl passed out on the other side of Yuki.

Zero and Kaito were there. I walked on scene, holding my head, "Did we get everyone?"

"Everyone except three," Zero said, then pointed to the pile of ashes, "We know what happened to one,"

"The other two are dead," I rolled up my sleeves, taking a shaky breath, "I handled them,"

"Why?" Yuki asked walking up with a nervous look. I put on a facade, "They tried to escape and I stopped them but...it didn't work,"

"You're a Pureblood," Kaito said suspiciously, "Control them,"

I locked my jaw, "I told you, I tried to stop them. I told them to stop and they did. Apparently, so did their hearts,"

Everyone became quiet and Yuki's hands touched my shoulder lightly, as if afraid to set off a bomb.

"That's enough for tonight," I said, not willing to look in anyone's eyes, "Let's bring the remainder in,"

I walked in the hall alone, preparing to greet new members of the Night class. But as I turned around, Yuki materialized.

Her hand touched my arm, "Rose, if there's ever a problem or a stress, don't overburden yourself. Trust me, we need to watch each other's backs and I can't do that if you don't tell me anything,"

"Yuki, I do trust you," I said, "But as a Pureblood, I have responsibilities,"

"We-"

She hushed as we heard voices.

"I also in my heart, did not wish to admit it, that night when our dear Lord Ouri died....Kaname-"

The feminine voice dimmed and then spoke again, this time, directed to the two of us, "Come in,"

I clenched my fists, upset at her accusing misleading missy act. She was the one who killed Lord Ouri. But only Jason and Takuma know, so if I were to reveal that, it would injure their credibility.

"How would you know it was him? That it was Kaname?" I said, walking in.

She turned to us and without another word, she kneeled to us, "Lady Rose, Lady Yuki! Thank goodness! Only you two can save me! Kaname was he one who killed Hanadagi, he's coming after me next!"

When I bit my lips and watched her pitiful sprawl of fake, I wanted to do anything but give her the asylum she seeks.

But, she hosted Takuma and Jason well......and I have no choice, but to also treat her with the same respect.

I looked at Yuki before realizing was waiting on me. Looking up, then back own into the malicious glint in her beautiful eyes, I licked my lips, "We'll have you settled as quickly as possible,"

I closed my eyes, my head laid in Jason's lap, "Don't you ever wish that time would stop?" I asked.

"All the time, usually it's when I'm with you,"

"Why?" I asked, blowing away the flower petals he dropped on me.

We were outside on a bench.

"Because, you're fun to be around," he said, simply.

"But I'm also full of trouble and you have to be there to comfort me," I blew a daisy petal away and into a growing pile.

"Well," he started, "Since I hadn't noticed, it means that you don't have that many issues, right?"

"Have you seen Mom or Dad?" I asked, "They must be worried sick,"

"Humans, right?" He said, "So tiny and delicate,"

"I feel embarrassed now. I talked so big,"

"Now now, young padawon, you were more adorable than annoying," He chuckled. I ignored his 'young padawon' comment, "I have such awesome friends," I blew out.

"You do don't you?" He asked. I lightly smacked his chest, "humbleness, Jason," I reminded.

"I am humble though, see if you look humble up in the dictionary, you'll see my face,"

I laughed at how childish he was.

But then I saw Zero run out of the building. Jason and I both frowned and gave each other puzzled expressions.

"And then there's Zero, being amazing friend he always is," I said, my heart beating heavily when I had said friend. Sitting up, I groaned, "I'll go check out what his problem is,"

Jason grabbed my hand, "And Rose, when you come back, you and I need to talk,"

Jason looked at me the way anyone would if they could see how much I was dying. "Okay," I said, simply trying to act like it didn't bother me that Jason could see right through me.
