A Sad Day

It's a sad day. A sad day on Friday, November 13, 2015. A sad day for many countries, but mainly France. I have visited Paris a ton of times, but it's hard seeing such a beautiful city sad. When the lights go off, everyone else's go on. It's amazing what other countries do.

"Maddie, are you going to come and eat dinner?"

"I'll be right down," I tell my mum.

I drop my phone on my bed and exit my room as I go downstairs and into the kitchen. I sit down at the table and the three of us bow our heads and say grace. Once I'm done saying grace, I  put the meat and macaroni & cheese onto my plate. We eat in silence for a few moments, before my mum starts up a conversation.

"How was your day today, Maddie?"

"Good, thank you for asking, Mum."

"And how was yours?" Mum asks my older brother.

"Mine was very nice, Mum." He tells her.

"And how was yours?" I ask her.

"Very great, thank you for asking, Maddie."

When dinner is finished, I help Mum with the dishes, and once we are done with them, I go straight to my room. Once my two feet enter my room, my phone rings.

"Hello," I smile.

"Hello, lovely." He says making me smile even more.

His voice is beautiful. I don't deserve him and he doesn't deserve me, even if we aren't even dating.

"How was your day today?"

And I tell him what I told my mum.

"Well, I have something to tell you."

"What is it?" I ask him.

"I broke up with Sofia."

"What? Why?" I ask Brooklyn.

"She stood up for the two boys and not for you."

Really? The girl, who I thought was my best friend, stood up for the two boys who called me something I wouldn't want to repeat? Now I know where I stand in her life. No where near what I thought I was standing.

"She did?" I say.

"Yeah, and so I told her I couldn't be with someone who isn't going to stand up for their best friend, who is being called nasty words, but for the two boys saying them."

Why is he so sweet to me?

"I'm sorry," I tell him.

"Why? You made me see the true side of her."

I saw the true side of her, too.

We continue talking for another hour, or so, and then we exchange our goodbyes.

Today, a sad day for many, better be better tomorrow.
