"HUMAN?" Papyrus called down from his room. He had gone to bed two hours ago but apparently woke up.
"Yeah Papyrus?"
"WILL YOU READ ME A STORY?" He sounded scared and tired. Poor cutie.
"Paps...how about a song instead?"
"ALRIGHT!" His enthusiasm rang out and was quite evident.
I walked up to his room and saw him shivering under his covers, sitting up. I smiled and let him get comfortable before I sang. It was a song I had heard for many years. It was a sweet lullaby to me.
"Who knows how long I've loved you
You know I love you still
Will I wait a lonely lifetime
If you want me to, I will
For if I ever saw you
I didn't catch your name
But it never really mattered
I will always feel the same."
Papyrus was calmed down and sighed.
"Love you forever and forever
Love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we're together
Love you when we're apart."
He was almost asleep now. I smiled wider.
"And when at last I find you
Your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear you
Make it easy to be near you
For the things you do endear you to me
Oh, you know I will
I will."
He was drifting off now, and I got up, planting a kiss on his head. Humming as I went to the door.
"Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm
Da da da da da da da..."
I shut the door quietly. Maybe I could sing to him tomorrow, too.
