"Civilian! Get down!" Rory started to run towards the woman. His long legs helped him, eating up the distance to get to the woman's aid.
Questions swirling around his head. What was the woman doing here? How did she get on the battlefield? Here in the middle of the chaos? He'd have to protect her. He locked an arm around the woman and maneuvered her onto his back, blocking her from the gunshots.
The enemy had surrounded them, surrounding them like a pack of wolves hungry for human flesh. They were outnumbered. He had to get her somewhere safe.
An abandoned building lay ahead. Rory made a dash for it, taking the anxious woman up with him. She was shouting at him but with the gunshots and cries of pain on the background, he couldn't hear her.
Once they were inside the building, he brought her down next to him and placed a finger over her lips. "Shh..."
He couldn't afford the woman to give away their location. For the last time he hush the woman and take in their surroundings, looking for possible enemies. His body tensed when one of the woman's hand reached out and began to stroke his short black hair. It was nice. His body relaxed from the soothing touch. Though he enjoyed the touch, he couldn't let the woman to distract him.
They were in the enemy territory. Anything could happen any moment.
A shadow passed over his eyes. That alerted his senses. Where was his weapon? Why didn't he have a weapon on him?
A man suddenly charged at him, hands up, but Rory ducked down just in time and hooked his arm under the man's while pulling him into his body. The man was knocked off balance by the move and Rory instantly had the man's leg and flipped him onto his back. Out of nowhere, hands were on him, yanking him away from the man and shoved him hard over the wall. He trashed around, dropping punches all the way until someone yelled in pain. Rory smirked in delight after hearing that.
Suddenly, he felt a sting on his left arm and when he looked down to find the source of it, he saw a syringe injected on it peacefully. He looked up and shook his head. The images in front of him were moving, leaving him until darkness took it's place. His eyes began adjust to it and looked around. He was in his room, up into the wall. He fought to keep his eyes open when he felt it became heavier every second past.
He looked down and his eyes collided with a pair of a familiar brown eyes.
"Dad..." He looked behind his dad and locked eyes with a pair of tear-stricken eyes before exhaustion engulfed him. "Mom..."
