Chapter 15: Stars

Steven's P.O.V:

We land on the temple. Inside.

"Here we are. Now we have to go to a mission." Garnet says and stands on the warp pad. Pearl and Amethyst stands with her too, then they warp.

"I should take off the dress and this round thing on my hair." Peridot says and goes to the bathroom. Then she stops. "I had fun tonight, thanks."
Then she goes in.

"You're welcome." I quietly mumble. I sit on my bed and I happily punched my fists into the air. Tonight is a success! Everything went as expected, I hope Peridot grew feelings for me too, or she only had fun.
We did a great job dancing on the spotlight where everyone was watching! I could never forget that moment. I take my phone charger out from the outlet and I check my phone.

It read '1 unread message' I check it.

It's from Connie.

5:46 P.M

Connie

Hey Steven, can you go to a dance festival with me? It's in Beach City, reply if you can go.

I freeze. Oh no! She probably hates me now! I sigh. Here goes..

8:34 P.M

Sorry Connie! I was charging my phone, I'm so sorry! I danced with...

How could I say this?

... Peridot. I am so sorry if you hate me for this! I promise I'll make it up for you, I'll do whatever you want. We're still Jam Buds right?

I sigh. I had feelings for Connie but now I have feelings for Peridot. Connie and I are just best friends, nothing more. She probably hates me for dancing with Peridot! I mean, I left her hanging. It's not like she's jealous or something! Haha! We're only best friends.

"Dut, dut!"

8:35 P.M

Connie

It's alright.. I saw you guys dance too.
Don't reply any longer 😇 I don't want you to waste your load.

Waste? Well she said that I don't have to reply so... I guess we're alright. She saw Peridot and I dancing..

"Done." Peridot announces as she's back to her normal self.

"Okay. I'm gonna change clothes too.." I faintly say.
I get in the bathroom and I take off my tuxedo.

"If I could begin to be..."
I hear someone singing.
"... Half of what you think of me."
Sounds like Peridot. She stops.
I hurriedly take off my tuxedo and I wear my shirt.
Bringing my tuxedo, I go out.

"Hey Steven." Peridot says without looking at me, but instead, looking at the stars.

I put my tuxedo and I take her outside.

She focuses at the stars. "You know, Steven.."
"Earth is really beautiful. The flowers, the people, the stars. Everything. Thanks." She thanks me and smiles at me.

"You're welcome!" I reply. "You're right. Earth is beautiful."

"Due to the large amount of stars, I don't know where homeworld is." Peridot says.

She misses homeworld?

"Peridot, do you miss homeworld?" I ask.

"I don't know." She says. "I know I might never go back to homeworld, but, it's hard. Not having feelings from where you came from. Everyone treats me like a tool. Like the other peridots back in homeworld, Jasper treats me like a tool, Lapis is.. I don't know. Yellow Diamond treats me like nothing but a peridot who works for her."

Tears starts flowing from her eyes, then she wipes it.

"But I have something different now." Peridot says.

"What?" I ask.

"You.. Guys." She smiles.

I smile back and I hug her. "Awww!"

"You can let go of me now." She says.

"Sorry, it's just.." I start. "The path you're taking is a good path."

I let go of her. "Thanks." She thanks me.

I yawn.

"Steven?"

"Oh, sorry! I'm just tired. I'm gonna go sleep. Good night Peri." I say and I yawn once again.

"Good night." Peridot says as she continues to look at the stars.

I lie down on my bed. I sigh, facing the wall.

"Dut, dut!"

9:06 P.M

Connie

Hey Steven. Wanna come to Funland tomorrow? I heard that you're unbanned from Funland.

I'm unbanned! Yipee!

9:07 P.M

Sure! I'll go there after dinner.

I freeze. Looking at the emoticon she sent. I shrug. That's what people do when they text.

I close my eyes, trying to sleep..
