Chapter 31: The Return

Steven's P.O.V:

"What are we going to do?" Peridot asks, shivering.

My sword.. "I have to get my sword!"

"From..."

"From Connie." I continue.

Peridot rolls her eyes. "Fine. Let's go then!"

"Yeah, but we gotta find a way to get out from here and the rain." I say.

CRASH!

"The door!" I whisper and I pull Peridot under my bed. "Shh!"

I peek. Jasper breaks the door, "Come out, Rose!"

"Doesn't she know-"

I cover Peridot's mouth. Jasper still doesn't know I'm not my mom..

"Garnet will save us, her future vision will save us." I whisper, to make Peridot feel better.

"No one is inside the base." Jasper mumbles and checks the bathroom.

The door closes. "Now!" I pull Peridot slowly and I lead her outside with my shield.

"I did expand this shield one time but I don't know how to expand it." I say. "We just have to be.."

"A little closer." Peridot says. She leans closer under my shield

I blush and I shake my head. "To Connie's house!"

"To the clod's house."

-Time Skip-

I knock on the door three times. "Connie!" I call out.

Connie opens the door. "I knew you still want me, come in." She smirks.

Peridot growls and sighs.

"And you brought this freak with you."

"Connie, we're here to get my sword back." I sigh.

"Yeah, okay."

She goes inside, getting her sword.

"Agh, finally." I let out a relieving sigh.

She shows up and hands me my sword. "Here it is. Now go stab that little crap." She stares at Peridot.

I growl. "No."

I walk away with Peridot and Connie to my surprise, grabs my hand.

"Stay a bit longer. Please." Connie smiles.

Peridot growls. "Alright, I've had enough."

Connie raises her brow.

Peridot sighs. "We have a bigger problem that we should deal with instead of dealing with a low life clod like you. A problem that'll risk our lives and may cause extinction of all human races. So if you excuse us, we have a mission to deal with."

Peridot grabs my hand and walks with me in the rain. I look back at Connie, who has crossed arms and a smirk.

"You controlled your temper." I say.

"Thanks. Now let's go!" Peridot exclaims and runs with my sword.

I run with her with my shield.

We reach at the house. Looking at the confused Jasper.

Jasper turns around and sees us. "Rose! And Peridot!"

I open the door. "Well, I'm not Rose."

"Liar." Jasper sneers.

"I'm Steven. A gem/human hybrid. My mom's gone." I reply.

"A hybrid? How is that even possible?" Jasper asks.

"Well, it's possible." Peridot shrugs. She points the sword at her.

Jasper laughs and summons her helmet. "Defective gems!"

"Peridot, do you know how to sword fight?" I whisper.

"Do I?" Peridot asks. "Yes, I do."

I smile. I prepare my shield and Peridot prepares her sword.

Jasper charges at us with full speed. I switch places with Peridot and I block her charge with my shield.

Peridot jumps behind me and slashes Jasper's helmet. "Ow!" Jasper growls and resummons her helmet.

Peridot growls and thrusts at her, Jasper dodges and picks Peridot up. She smiles evilly and prepares her helmet.

I throw my shield like a Frisbee and hit Jasper in the head. She drops Peridot and rubs her head.

Peridot goes behind me. "Man.."

"This is hard.."

I nod. Jasper looks at me, she curls into a ball with spikes.

"Watch out!" I exclaim and I push Peridot out of the way. I block it with my shield but Jasper manages to knock me hard on the wall.

"Argh!" I exclaim in defeat, my stomach hurts.

"Steven!" I hear Peridot exclaiming as she stands on her feet, picking up my sword.

Jasper picks me up and looks me at the eye. She knocks me in the head.

Peridot's P.O.V:

"Steven!" I exclaim and I hit Jasper, knocking her on the wall.

I rush to him and I shake him. He's unconscious. "Steven! Wake up!"

However there are no bruises.

Jasper stands up. "You were loyal. What happened!?"

"I was! But I'm not doing anything wrong! I'm protecting a great planet that doesn't deserve to be a Gem Colony!" I snap back and I thrust at her.

"You're still weak. Defective little gem!" Jasper growls.

"Defective little gem!" Those words rung in my head, remembering my limb enhancers' purpose.

Unknowingly, Jasper knocks me on the wall, hard.

Jasper picks me up.

"You are dead!"

She hits me with her helmet.
