Let's Turn Doubters Into Believers

If you had told me that we were going to have Jürgen freaking  Klopp as our manager in October, I would have laughed in your face. Although I know, like and actually support Dortmund, I thought he was going to go to a big club instead of us. Like, Real Madrid or something. I thought he was going to be done with rebuilding teams, that he had already built up an amazing reputation in building players like Lewa, Götze, Reus and more as well as winning Champions League and just everything. But then we get rid of Brendan Rodgers (on my birthday of all days) and the rumours roll in.

And top of the list is Jürgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti.

No. Way.

We were Liverpool, you know, the ones who have still not won the Premier League title, who weren't even in a EUROPA spot at the time and had a squad who's best striker was a guy that was something of a ticking time bomb when it comes to injuries. How would two of some of the greatest managers around want to come here?

Then Ancelotti says that FSG haven't even talked to him. And that he didn't want to come anyway but who cares dude, you're a Bayern manager.

So eyes turn to Klopp. He's still silent, still hasn't said anything. Isn't even in Liverpool.

Eyes turn to FSG. They say that things will be okay, that our new manager will be here soon. That they have everything everything under control and there's nothing to worry about.

Of course, everyone panics.

FSG are trying to run us into the ground! They lack what it takes to own a football team! They're too bloody stingy! Take your US dollars and go home FSG, you're drunk.

And then Klopp shows up. He's in Liverpool. He's talking to the fans. He's in Anfield!

Of course, there's the feeling of doubt. No way is he here. They probably photoshopped this whole thing into making us think we signed him. I won't believe it until he gives a press conference and touches the "This is Anfield" sign.

Done.

And done

And done.

Suddenly, we're excited. Suddenly, we have belief. Suddenly, for some weird reason, we remember who we are. We're Kopites! We support one of the best teams in the world! We're going to win the title!!

Wait . . . what? What was that last part?

Yeah, we got a bit over our heads at the start. We had our up and downs with Klopp. We wavered in what we thought he could do, as evident with what happened against Crystal Palace.

He felt alone.

He didn't think that we believe in him. In the players.

In Liverpool.

So he whipped us into shape first. If you have no fans, you have no team. Doubters into believers, he said. I'll do something to make you believe in this team. I'll do something to make you dream again.

He yelled. He yelled a lot.

It's surprising he didn't get surgery on his throat rather than his appendix with all that yelling. But he made the club and the fans won. When a goal was scored, he jumped and shouted and punch the air like he was punching Wayne Rooney for us. That got us excited. That got us watching.

We got ourselves a great performance in the Etihad. When he was asked if we can win the title, he laughed. And raised his eyebrows. And got to business. Who wins the title by beating City? Not us or Spurs apparently because we both did that twice.

We did the same against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Philippe Coutinho looked good. Christian Benteke looked good. Simon Mignolet looked good. No way. Surely we can win the title now!

No.

He said he was going to turn us from doubters to believers. Not doubters to . . . whatever they're smoking at the Emirates. Seriously, if you thought you could win the title with Roberto Firmino as striker for a number of games and Simon Mignolet in goal . . . that is God . . . not Klopp.

I don't have to go through the whole season with you. I don't have to tell you about the finals. About beating the League Leaders once. About the sudden jump that our players had. You know it because you're still excited and you're ready for more and not complaining for a moment about the people we brought in or sold (though Rossiter was a sad one).

And thank Fowler he signed a new contract. For six years. He's here for the long haul. Until 2022. He likes us. He actually likes us. Even the people that work with him, Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz signed six year deals.

If you think about it, we're only a week into the transfer window and we already have the best signing of them all: Jürgen Norbert Klopp. He's helped us more than you can imagine. Every signing that we have done, even with the new staff from Bayern, have sited Klopp as one of their main reasons. Why would we allow him to go with him helping us in so many transfers and he's staying until 2018 and and them 2020? This is just perfect, in my eyes.

If you don't think this is a good idea, remember the match against Crystal Palace, Norwich or Dortmund. People didn't leave that time. They believed that the team could win. And all three times they did. We still have a ways to go. There's still inconsistency. There are still people that doubt what the team can do. They think that we can't win the title ever underneath Klopp. Well, look those people dead in the eye and tell 'em you don't care. This is a time for belief and not doubt. There's no room for the latter and if you have it, listen to a bit of Shanks and Klopp. Still have that doubt? Don't support this club and go to a winning team or something.

Imagine this. Klopp is leader, a Roman leader even. Anyone who doesn't think that the Roman leader can capture a city isn't brought with them to that city as they try to take it and they stay at home, not to spoil the mood and belief of the others. But when they do capture, that's when the doubter acts as if he/she knew all along. Or he/she is silent. The Roman Empire was a golden age for the Romans. So is the Klopp Era for us fans. There is still more to grow on, but that will happen later on. Klopp knows that. He knows what to do. Really. Don't worry.

He's still here. He loves us, we love him. He's bringing in the right people.

It's six more years of good times, guys. Rejoice. We're finally in that golden sky at the end of the storm.
