It's Been Nice Knowing You: Jerome Sinclair

Although we got £4m from Watford, what was the point really? Other than signing with Aidy Ward and debuting at 16 years and 6 days old, he's had nothing to his career. But that doesn't mean he didn't exist, or put on our great red shirt, so he'll get a page.

We signed Sinclair as a fourteen year old, when he became a free agent after either not wanting to sign a contract or just not getting one. At the time, he was compared to Raheem Sterling (how ironic?) by the coaching staff of the time. He spent a majority of the 11-12 season with the Under-16s and then later with the Under-18s, not finding the back of the net in all games but still raising the brows of all the training staff and the youth coaches.

During the pre season prior to the 12-13 season, he did end up scoring a hat-trick against Exeter City in an Under-18s friendly and netted eight goals in all six of the pre season matches. During that season, he scored his first competitive goal, in a brace against Crystal Palace for the Under-18s.

The way he got the first team call up in the 12-13 season was due to the NextGen Series, where he went into a fine vein of form and led to his getting into the side against West Brom in the League Cup. The match ended 2-1 to us and this is the match that he debuted as the youngest Red in our history. For the rest of the season he played with the Under-18s. His progress in the 12-13 season couldn't be replicated due to injury, keeping him out for a majority of the season.

Again, in the 14-15 season, he did very well in the youth cups and league, so he was called up to the first team once again to play against Beşiktaş J.K. in Europa League. We all know how that went. So I won't give the details. After this he was loaned and only got one appearance with Wigan Athletic, but linked up with Sheyi Ojo in a 2-0 loss to Watford. He returned to Anfield due to the lack of matches and made his PL debut on the 10th of May, coming on for Rickie Lambert in a 1-1 draw to Chelsea.

His only appearance for us in the 15-16 season was against Exeter City where he scored his first senior goal, in the first match that ended 2-2. It is very obvious why this was his only appearance due to the fact that he started kicking up dust saying that he wanted to leave due to not being played/paid as much as he wanted. Remember, he's NINETEEN. I don't get it, don't want to and apparently, neither did Klopp and didn't want to reward his behavior and didn't play him again. Instead, he was left free to go by us and went to Watford, where he won't kick and complain about not playing because Watford isn't Liverpool. Thanks Aidy . . .  for absolutely nothing.

The only reason I say he's done nothing is because, compared to the other players, his career has been quiet, with only 6 senior starts compared to Teixeira's 45 and Canos' 40. He didn't come from Barcelona's youth academy, he didn't progress greatly in his own league and he isn't a local hero. He's just Sinclair. So his motive behind this move seems to be just Ward. Expecting play time ahead of Sturridge, Firmino and even Benteke is just funny and I believe that he understands this to an extent, which is why I pinned this on Aidy Ward, his agent, who doesn't understand this and just wants money because for every move Sinclair makes, the more money he gets. I don't want to squash his hopes, but he needs much more progressing if he doesn't want to end up the same way Sterling, did which is having all his faults blow up in his face on a bigger stage. Luckily, there won't be a price tag to weigh him down this time. Just don'y want to see him fail.

YNWA Jerome. Do well at Watford and listen to your head and heart, not Ward.
