You don't need to speak the language to know what happened.

You don't need to support the club to care or cry.

You just need to know the sport to start having your eyes water.

I can remember clear as day what happened when I was told the news. Mostly because this just happened, but also because it was out of the blue.

Since I moved, I'm waking up earlier now and getting to school a bit earlier. I just walked into my mum's room to get something and she just tells me, "Did you hear that a plane crashed?"

. . . WHAT???

"It was for this soccer team in Brazil, everyone died."

I kept pressing her for more information. But I live in America, it was only passing news in the morning (maybe 4-6) until it started to really get some traction (afternoon to evening time).

But I was just shocked.

I love watching the Brazil national team and I desperately, almost selfishly, hoped a big team wasn't the one this happened to, because it ruined things. Now I don't care. I really just wish it didn't happen.

Death toll stayed the same for me all day and the news kept getting more depressing.

One guy just found out that he was going to be a dad the week before the flight.

One survived, talked to his wife and died only moments after they hung up.

Nivaldo, the goalkeeper that did not make the trip, retired from football.

Only one is alive after that second leg in the semi final from the team that played that match.

And only three are left from that whole team.

This isn't even including the manager, the staff that went with them. It's 71 in all, close to the 96 we wear on our back and they're both horrible in their own ways.

You just need to see the pictures to know.

The last one was of the goalkeeper I said died after talking to his wife. Those were his last words before going to heaven and getting his halo.

Liverpool and many other clubs have come in solidarity with Chapecoense, with their rivals and many others offering to loan players and showing support. Atlético Nacional is pushing to give Chapecoense the title and now they cannot be relegated for three years. But this still can't take the pain that is obviously going to linger and I hope they can take this and make it a part of them to make them stronger.

I'm not trying to make this a cry fest, just a way to show support to them in any way I can.

Força Chape, You'll Never Walk Alone.

I just hope I never have to do this again.
