I've been meaning to do this for a while, and now I finally get the chance. It's time for the transfer rumours to be evaluated and see if they're total lies or not.
Liverpool pull out of race for Mario Götze; Dortmund in final stages to get signature:
I give this a five out of five sort of rating. Mario has strung us along since that unfortunate game and Karius, who came under our radar long after him, has been a Liverpool player for about a month now! The reason why I bring up Karius is that he is younger than Götze, yet getting consistent first team play time, while Götze is not. Still, Karius can see that yes, Liverpool will heighten his exposure to bigger and better teams and while we're not in Europe, it's still a good deal. Mario couldn't get past the fact we aren't in Europe, even though we were the only team that would give him the time of day at the time. Then he said he was only holding out for CL teams like Real, Barça and Arsenal. So we dropped out because Klopp wants someone to push the train, not get on when the momentum is already there. Now, excuse me as I try to figure out how to deal with Götze back in yellow and black, being a BVB fan and all.
Adam Bogdan heading out to Wigan to complete season long loan:
I only give this a four out of five because it's not a outright transfer. Okay, just kidding. I only do this because, even though it's just a medical and that's it, I feel like the deal could fall through somehow. But maybe that's just me and my not liking how half the transfer this season suddenly disappear. Paul Pogba to United, anyone?
Joe Allen to . . . Manchester United:
HELL NO. Zero out of five, I'd even give it lower, if possible. He just had an amazing and historical Euro run, so if they're shelling out £100m for Pogba (who I think is a good player, he just doesn't deserve that most expensive ever weight on his back), then £30m for Allen. At the least. United and Liverpool haven't done business since 1964. The Beatles just went to America in that time. If United think they're above Joe Allen, easily lies. They have Rooney trying to pass off as a midfielder, so I'm willing to think they have made a glance for Joe and Klopp slapped them away with a big no. That's what give me peace about this one.
Ragnar Klavan set to come to Liverpool for medical:
I'd give this a 3.5 out of five. Since there's no Kolo Toure (just resign him . . . he's FREE*), we only have four center backs: Sakho, Lovren, Matip and Gomez plus two make-shift ones: Lucas and Can. Funnily enough, we've already gone down to just two centerbacks, with Matip even in a bit of doubt as to if he can play on Wednesday. With Ilori going to the Olympics and Wisdom possibly going on loan, that's a bit of a shaky thing, even with the small amount of matches, we always seem to have Injury Apocalypse. He's expected to have his medical done today.
Liverpool lead chase for Georginio Wijnaldum; confident in signing:
Even though he just came to the club a year ago, he wants to leave. Or we want to get him. Either way, I give it a three out of five because he's a talented, young player and Klopp likes those sorts of people. The only problem I have is that the whole Newcastle team went off the deep end last season and he was a part of a big group that did not show enough to look like they cared. Watch The True Geordie on YouTube if you think I'm kidding. But this was possibly all due to some pretty bad management before Rafa came in, so who knows when it comes to transfer season.
Benteke deal with Crystal Palace hits impasse:
I give this a four out of five in the fact that Crystal Palace are only giving us £27m up front with other add ons, like Palace qualifying for Europe (LOL!) and stuff along those lines of never going to happen. So the deal could potentially be off if Palace don't give us the £31m as he goes to them on that day.
Reds in for Draxler:
Two out of five. I think we'd look at him, since he's a good player and all, I just don't think the price would sit well with some fans, even after they demanded we get guys like Lacazette or whoever.
Piotr Zielinski has mind made up on new club; possibly not Liverpool:
Three out of five. The guy really wants to come to Anfield. Like, earlier this transfer window, he said that he wouldn't accept anything but Liverpool, or something like that. But his team and ours seem to be at a dead lock on things, with our club ready to pull out or get what they want at the price they want. With all the waiting that has happened, he has a right not to choose us, so that's why I'm sticking with the "It's likely he's not going to be in our red next season" side. I'd be happy, but who knows.
Jeremy Mathieu possibly coming to Anfield:
Two out of five. We need cover, as explain in the Ragnar Klavan (what a cool name) rumour, but I'm not sure we'll get it from Barça. We had our chance with the younger Bartra and didn't go, so I don't see why we should go in for a higher priced player who will only play rarely.
John Flanagan to stay at Anfield:
Five out five. Ten out of ten. Whatever you want to say, he's staying. Klopp likes him, the Kop likes him, so why not? There's no problem as he can fill in in both fullback positions, so yes, he's the Scouse guy we need.
Ben Chilwell to Anfield:
Three out of five, as it's been dragged along like the Zielinski rumour. He's there for cover on Moreno, not a replacement. And with his bright future, I wouldn't mind getting him. It's just if he or Leicester are getting bored of this is the only problem.
Lazar Marković to Sporting Lisbon:
One out of five. I find this rumor doubtful as he just came back and the only guys we are selling are those that could get better with time and ones that truly needed to go. So I give this a one out of five, because Klopp is smart, but very quiet on what he would want to do. I can see him fighting for a chance here at Anfield.
Clyne to Barcelona:
What? Nope, done here. Zero out of ten for absolute nonsense, taking the horrible transfer rumour crown for this chapter.
That's all of the most recent rumours! If there's one that you've read and I don't have up here, just tell me and I can put it up. I'll try to do this transfer rumour page as much as possible because transfers are really something.
