Akashi always wanted to experience how 'peasants' ate in life, so he insisted on at least trying to stay in an apartment near his college campus.
He definitely wasn't going to stay in a dorm.
And he didn't know how to cook. Of course he knew the recipes, but something always went wrong.
So for two and a half weeks, he lived off of cereal and instant noodles.
That is, until Kuroko forced Kagami to teach Akashi how to cook. (That's a story for another day...)
