Kagami jogged up the steps to the gym, duffel bag hitting his side every other stair. The doors opened, and the man shivered as a blast of air conditioning hit him, and the lady behind the desk- Sakiko- gave an obligatory smile with forced vigor. Kagami smiled out of the kindness of his heart in return.
Grabbing a towel, the red-head looked around and saw that the gym was sparsely filled, with an occasional person switching their machines. Only 7 people seemed to be scattered throughout, and Kagami was relieved he could exercise without constraints.
That is, until he saw a shorter man on the elliptical, and Kagami remembered the high school days that were littered with basketball. Akashi Seijuro was, for obvious reasons, the last thing the taller basketball player wanted to see.
Kagami had a decent plan formed; he would just avoid eye contact and would stay away from Akashi. The shorter man wouldn't be happy about the loss that he'd experienced in his first year of high school, and Kagami didn't want to be on the receiving end of his wrath.
Well, how he was wrong.
As soon as Kagami set his things beside a treadmill, he noticed Akashi look at him, as if expecting him to come sooner or later. Fear thread through Kagami's veins, so he did (what he thought) was the best idea at the moment.
"What are you looking at?" Kagami's voice echoed through the gym, and Akashi's head swiveled to face him. His legs kept working on the machine, but his eyes were fully focused on Kagami.
"Excuse me? I don't believe I understood what you said-" His ruby eyes flashed with danger, warning the other man about his tone. "-but I hope you weren't implying something. It'd be a real shame if you were."
The man on the treadmill slowed down his pace to one that allowed him to talk and work out at the same time. Kagami remembered Kuroko's advice when it came to talking to anyone.
