Your mother opened the trunk of the taxi with a bang, causing the car to shudder and make your carsickness worse. From the corner of your eye, you were able to see a small family of three emerge from their house. They all came forward and started talking with various members of your family.

You couldn't hold it in any longer. Leaping out of the car, you sprinted until you found a bathroom in your new home and emptied your stomach. The smell of sickness filled the air, but soon foot steps accompanied it.

"Yuck, it smells in here," a deep voice interrupted and you wiped your mouth before turning to see who it was. Nijimura Shūzo was staring at you with amusement and mirth in his eyes, and you got up from the floor, cleaning up after yourself.

"I'm Nijimura Shūzo. Your new neighbor. You can call me Shūzo." The boy popped a mint into your jaw-dropped mouth, and you looked at him in wonder. Nijimura chuckled. "Were in America, idiot. Everyone refers to each other by their given name. Didn't you learn anything in English and World Studies?"

"Hey! I did! I was just... distracted." Yeah, distracted by a blue haired beauty that you were lucky enough to call your boyfriend- now ex-boyfriend. A wistful sigh escaped your mouth, and Nijimura panicked; the atmosphere had changed too quickly for his liking.

"(F/N)! Hurry up or Okaa-san will be mad at you for making everyone wait." Makoto's deep voice resonated through the bare bathroom and Nijimura was secretly glad that he didn't have to try to deal with... whatever just happened. Something had happened, right?

Makoto saw your shiny eyes, and immediately went over to take you in his arms. Fuck, something had triggered you, and this wasn't the best time. You sank into his warm embrace.

Nijimura isn't an idiot. He knew when he's not supposed to be there, when he's unwanted, but for some reason he joined the caring circle. His mind was telling him to leave and not make the situation worse, but instead he kneeled down by you and Makoto and rubbed circles on your back. Once in a while, Nijimura even threaded his fingers through your (H/C) hair.

And you loved it. The first few seconds were awkward- the boy was stilted with his actions- but soon Nijimura knew that he was allowed to be there, and he relaxed.

Makoto knew what would happen. After all, he knew that Aomine was a no-good idiot that wouldn't make you happy. A person learns best from experience, and your brother never wanted you to have to deal with what he had to in the past.

Momoi Satsuki was a painful part of his past that he never wanted to have to deal with again.

You sighed and leaned into the touch that was on your back. Looking at the body in front of you, you realized that you'd been crying unconsciously. That was strange. You sniffed before standing up with unease.

"A-Are you okay?" Nijimura was terrified of saying something and making the situation worse. (Who could blame him? Boys can be insensitive.)

"I'll be fine, thanks Shūzo." Smoothing out any creases in your shirt, you leaned over and pecked the boy on the cheek.

"Any time, (F/N). I'll give you my number, so if you need anything- call me." The basketball player eyed as your brother left the room like a ninja, and turned to you. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"I'll be fine, thank you." Pink dusted your cheeks, for you were touched by the concern dripping from the boy's voice. It was a good change from the softness of your brother, the demanding from your parents, and the ignorance of Aomine. You felt wanted.

"Shall we head out now? I'm sure everyone has gotten to catch up a bit." Nijimura started to leave the room.

Running past him, you laughed before turning and saying. "You sound like an old man! Who talks like that?"

"Hey! I-I do not! Get back here!"

Yeah, you could get used to this feeling...
