Sequel to Bittersweet Tears...

HAPPY BORTHDAY AHOMINE

*****

It was a blur to you now...

The letter came in a crisp, off white envelope that was sealed with a gold sticker. The sticker itself revealed all that the letter did, but you still reached for the letter opener.

Each movement contained at least 1,000 prayers that it wasn't what you believed it to be, but inside, your heart had already shattered beyond repair.

Dear loved ones of Aomine Daiki,

      We regret to...

Your mind blanked out at the news of what happened. He couldn't be dead, right? The paper fluttered to the floor as your knees gave out from beneath you.

Your ears were deaf to the cry of pain that you released as your body slammed into the hardwood flooring. Your screams of sorrow were ignored. The lights flickered and soon, everything was blacked out.

You woke up in tears. Ripping the blanket off, you stumbled over to phone to dial the number known by heart.

One ring, two rings, three rings, four.

No one picked up.

"Shh, it's okay," You reasoned while sinking to the floor in a huddle. It didn't seem to help, but you continued. "H-he's not d-dead."

"Right?"

As the days grew closer to September, your mind blurred and dulled more than the previous day. Minutes stretched to hours- seconds became unbearable. The only hope you had was that Aomine would finally answer his phone, but that was fading by the passing day.

It was finally August 31. Today would've been your boyfriend's birthday, but you weren't even sure if he was still alive to celebrate it.

You were in the middle of washing dishes when you heard the doorbell ring. You walked to it unwillingly but trudged forward with every step. As the door opened, you were greeted with the beaming face of your boyfriend, Aomine Daiki. Tears streamed down your face as you leaped forward and strung your arms around his neck, while sniffing the natural scent that had only been provided by a pillow and a few shirts after all this time.

"I-I missed y-you so much," was stuttered into his neck. He readjusted his grip on you so you wouldn't fall. You were vaguely aware of a few drops landing on you.

"I missed you too. But, guess what!" He pulled away from you enough to look into your sparkling, tear-filled eyes when he announced: "I'm here for good, love."

Your lips crashed onto his in joy, and he leaned forward to push you into the open apartment. You prayed that you had turned off the faucet.

Before things got too heated, you reluctantly pulled away and giggled when the man pecked your lips once more to tease you. "Happy birthday, Daiki."
