It was raining, just like a cliche story, when he broke you. What was going to happen now? He would be a menace and absolute torturer when he found you once again. But wasn't he like that the entire time you dated him? Did you just not notice?

***flashback***

He was late, like usual. Nowadays, the work day stretched from one or two hours extra to seven or eight. The most you could do was wait for him, and offer a cup of coffee and a light meal. That is if he came home.

You turned the page of your book and released a sigh. The clock said that it was nearly 2:30 AM, but to you, it felt like an eternity since you'd last seen Himuro. You started reading the page again.

God knows how long you'd been reading, but the words seemed to evaporate, and you weren't even sure what the book was even about. Your eyes flickered to the door every few seconds to see if his muscular and lean body would suddenly arrive and give you a peck on the cheek while leading you to the dining table. While eating, he would give you advice on how to lose weight, and would tell you to just have a light salad.

It was routine now, and you could always imagine how the scenes would play out. You'd make a salad, he'd say ranch is fatty and remove it from your hands, and then you'd sit at the table while both of you discussed your day. He'd finish, you'd wash the dishes and he'd remind you to not drop them, and chastise you if you did. Himuro would lead you to the bed, cuddle you, and sleep immediately while you tried to control yourself and think about how you could be a better girlfriend to him.

Then sleep would over take your body.

A loud crash started the cycle as Himuro stumbled into the apartment. He was drunk, and an unfamiliar saccharine vanilla scent wafted around his body, and you winced as he slammed his hands in the wall behind him. "Oi, (F/N)~" he called out with a sneer.

"Y-Yes, Tatsuya?" The fear made you stutter. When he was drunk like this, the next morning was spent on YouTube searching how to cover bruises. The only option was for you to listen to what he said.

"Sandwich and water. Make it snabby- no snappy. Is that right?" You scurried off to the kitchen to make him food when his heavy footsteps crashed and followed you. A hand grasped your neck, and you clawed to get out of the vice-like grip.

"Damn useless woman. When I ask a question, you fucking answer. Did I give you permission otherwise?" Your hands started losing strength as he didn't loosen his hands, cutting off oxygen by the millisecond.

"I SAID, DID I GIVE YOU THE DAMN PERMISSION?" He bellowed into your ear. Your vision blurred around the edges, and the world was covered by a sheer black filter.

"C-Can't b-b-breathe," you rasped out. The man behind you tossed you to the ground and you landed like a broken ragdoll.

Your limbs sprawled out as your torso took a kick, and another, and another. The excruciating pain was a miracle.

It reminded you that you were alive.

You weakly pushed yourself up once Himuro left the room, growling about the lesson he was going to give you now. Knowing that he would be gone for only minutes, you ran outside into the hallway searching for anyway out.

Scrambling to the elevator for hope, you finger repeatedly jammed the button with a faded 'B' from years of use. You heard Himuro's yells as you'd left the door open, and prayed that the doors would shut quickly and leave. Once they did, you heaved a sigh of relief, but the tension only left when the doors finally opened to the main floor. Tumbling out of the elevator out of exhaustion, you went and hurried outside, sitting on a park bench despite the rumbling thunder and rain that had previously hidden your cries of pain from the neighbors.

***flashback over***

And that's where you were now, ignoring the fact that your now ex-boyfriend could ruin the safety you were experiencing, ignoring any of the cars passing, and only looking for the local bus that would be coming soon.

You didn't know what was happening in your life. All that you had was the solace that the soaking rain gave you.
