100 Theme Challenge:
#2: Love*****
You never believed in love. There were always couples that walked around, flippantly abusing the word, as if they knew what it meant.
Love was a powerful word that could lose it's meaning, but what was the meaning that was so important?
You'd never found the answer. To you, love is a feeling implanted in our minds from the time we are born. It's a general word that groups together the feelings of care, infatuation, devotion, loyalty, and patience with undivided attention. So what was love?
***
You had experienced your fair share of crushes, but never experienced love. Currently, you were sitting with your boyfriend of over six months and eating your bento box. In the midst of your rice, you were trying to find what love was, because you felt terrible that Hyūga had always said that word while you never replied.
He genuinely seemed to care for you, and understood your beliefs, but why couldn't you at least force the words out?
Hyūga noticed you staring a bit too much at your fluffy grains of rice, so he captured your attention by saying, "Oi, you better not plan on dumping me for that rice. You're staring at it a bit too much,"
You let out a low chuckle before looking at Hyūga and pecking his cheek. Your laughs became louder when his cheeks turned a light pink, and he ducked his head down to avoid anyone seeing it.
Letting out a sigh, you decided to voice your thoughts out to your boyfriend. "Jun-kun, what's love?"
Hyūga looked up at you in shock, and you felt a little self-conscious at his gawking stare. You picked up your chopsticks and pushed the rice around, forming a star shape.
Hyūga cleared his throat while thinking that this would be a great time to show what a smooth talker he was. "Love is how I feel when I'm with you," he replied after a few moments of thought. He felt proud of his answer, but that was washed away when you rolled your eyes.
"I'm not trying to be rude, but what is love? Is it a feeling of obsession? How do you know that you're 'in love'?" You drank from your water bottle, because it seemed to be an important time to not ramble nervously and say something wrong.
As he now knew what your question meant, he was at a stand-still. What was love? He knew what it was, but how could he say it verbally? How could he tell you what it was, when he didn't know how to say it?
"I'm walking you home tonight, right?" He looked at you from the corner of his eye as you nodded you head while closing your bottle. "Good, I'm going to tell you then. Now may not be the best time to talk about that,"
You blushed as you remembered that you were still in the classroom, and anyone could hear your conversation and get the wrong idea.
"Stop blushing!" Hyūga exclaimed while rubbing the back of his neck.
Ah, you'd forgotten that Hyūga thought that you looked adorable when you blushed, and sometimes got turned on. He really was the weirdest dork ever.
"What? Why?" You feigned innocence, and saw Hyūga attack the remains of his bento as if there was no tomorrow.
Leaning over, you picked up a napkin and wiped Hyūga's mouth. "What am I, your mother?" The basketball captain grew even more embarrassed.
"Well, I hope I'm not, because I'm not a big fan of incest," you whispered near Hyūga as you kissed him soundly on the lips, relaxing in the familiar warmth.
Wolf whistles filled the room.

Basketball practice was over, and Hyūga had promised to be done changing quickly. You were a bit antsy- his answer would have to be interesting.
Riko noticed the amount of fidgeting occurring, and looked up from her papers over to you. "(F/N)-chan, are you alright? You look like someone just put itching powder inside your pants."
The coach laughed at her own joke before you replied, "N-no, it's just that Hyūga and I are going to talk after practice, and I'm a little nervous,"
"What!? No!!" She screeched. You looked at her as if she'd finally lost her sanity. "MY OTP CAN NOT DIE! DON'T BREAK UP!"
Chuckling, you reassured your friend. You didn't want to tell her that the conversation you were going to have was not about breaking up, and you decided to spare her by telling her so.
Hyūga pushed the locker room door open, releasing a billowing cloud of steam. A hand towel hung over his head, and before the door closed, he shot the towel into the laundry hamper as if it were a basketball while it was clutch time. The towel perfectly made it in.
"What happened? I heard screaming and rushed over," he panicked a little before seeing that no one was hurt.
"Oh, sorry, Jun-kun. Come on, let's go home. It's getting late," you threaded his fingers through your own before waving goodbye to Riko and leaving.
As the two of you walked, an awkward silence remained with you; each waiting for the other to talk. Seeing as you weren't making an effort to speak, Hyūga decided to do so for you.
"You know, you really threw me into a loop when you asked what love is earlier," he said as casually as possible. A shocked expression crawled onto your face as you hadn't imagined that he wouldn't know the answer to your very broad question.
"D-Don't get the wrong idea," he rushed while looking at the buildings around him; anything to distract him from your peering eyes would be his savior. "I know what love is, but I just didn't know how to explain it to you. I was stuck there.
So I thought about it for the whole day, and here I am, with an answer. Love is release of hormones that is used for man to find a mate and reproduce." You dead panned at how textbook-esque his answer had been. He rubbed his thumb against the back of your hand before continuing, "and my hormones chose you, and I haven't been happier since."
***
So, maybe you still had no clue what love is, and it didn't seem to be clearing up anytime soon. But, you were willing to find out what it was with your nerdy basketball-playing fluffball of a boyfriend.
