Akashi doesn't believe in love, and just believes that it's curiosity that became obsession, and that obsession became adoration, and that adoration turned into dependency.
He really doesn't think love is real, and thinks that marriage is for tax deductions.
(however, he is the absolute worst when it comes to turning down a confession for that sole reason- he has to decide if he would get a bigger deduction if he married the girl confessing to him, and it's a lot of thought for something that needs to be answered in about 20 seconds without it getting awkward...)
