Monday, 1st August 2016 - Beginnings of a Council
Dear Diary
When I arrived at school today, everybody was standing around the announcement board. I was interested in what it might say, but I did not really care for it. I went on with my day until my next break, when the board was free. I chose this time to go read the notification.
It was about the student council, a small group of people who listen to the students and talk to the teachers so as to, hopefully, improve the school for the better. The sign also indicated that more information would be coming at assembly tomorrow. It also boasted that it made getting into prefect easier, but that part definitely did not concern me.
I had never really been into councils before. I thought that, for the most part, all they wasted was everybody's time and resources.
I talked about it with my friend, and she shared most of my views. However, she also said that I should run for it. Her reason was extremely vague. WIth a smile on her face she said
"You just should", before walking away, almost as if she knew something that I did not. While this by itself did not convince me that I had to try and join the student council, it definitely opened up the idea to me. I decided to give it some thought and see if the additional information which would be presented to us at assembly tomorrow would clear up my choices.
