Saturday, 10th September 2016 - Operation: Laptop

Dear Diary

We began the operation in the afternoon. It was starting to get dark, and we hoped that that would help to mask any of our actions from any potential onlookers.

Mouse stayed at home. He was ready to hack into the surveillance system's as soon as I connected to the same network as My Secret Admirer's devices. Bear was in a house across the street, not close enough to help with the operation itself, but close enough in case something goes wrong.

I had dressed in a pair of black track suit pants, and borrowed a black jumped from Bear. I had tied up my long hair so that it hugged my head. I hoped to avoid it from snagging on anything. On my side I had a small satchel which contained my phone, a hammer and a small electric screwdriver. These were going to be used to remove the section of the floor. The satchel itself was reminiscent of the one used by Indiana Jones and was large enough to carry the laptop, along with all of the other equipment.

We now had an ear piece for everybody and I put mine in my ear.

"I am ready to go" I said, waiting for the keywords from both Bear and Mouse before I began.

"Ready to begin" said Bear correctly.

"Good luck!" Mouse said. I cringed. We had spoken about the keywords that we would use. While we did not think anybody would actually listen in on what we said, we wanted to give the operation a more official feel.

"Very well then" I murmured.

I walked up the My Secret Admirer's house. When I was at a distance that I felt was close enough, I got down and started to crawl. After several minutes I had reached his house and went underneath it. I checked my phone for the map of his house. After finding it, I began to make my way towards it. I also tried to connect to his network, but I seemed to be too far away to actually connect to it.

When I was underneath the area which I thought to be under his bed, I got my phone out again. This time the connection was successful.

"Mouse, I'm on his network, is it safe to go in his room yet?"

"No, no i'm not" Mouse quickly replied. "It should only take a few moments".

"Very well then" I replied, waiting for the security systems to be taken off-line.

After several minutes, it became apparent that Mouse was having trouble with it.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, a pinch of nervousness creeping into my voice.

"Well" he stumbled back in reply. "It's a lot more argh, well advanced than what I am used to. Everytime I think I have got everything unlocked and shut down, it starts up again."

"Is there anything I can do about that?" I asked.

"Well" he said, searching for an answer. "I guess that if you quickly get in and take the laptop, it should be ok."

"Wouldn't that only be if the system's run off the laptop?" I asked.

"Yes, but it seems to be our best option, it could take me ages to get through this"

I carefully took out the electric screwdriver from my satchel. I adjusted it so that it would remove screws and fittings, and searched for a place to use it on.

"Mouse, I can't see any places to use the screwdriver on."

Bear answered for him. After all, she did have more experience with this than either of us.

"There's probably a layer of something in between the wood and the screws. Your best chance would be to use the hammer and hope you don't damage the floor too badly."

Nervously, I followed her instructions, getting out the hammer that I had packed. After several moments I had removed a section of the floor. Luckily my predictions had been right and it was underneath his bed. I spent several more minutes working on a hole which was large enough for me to climb through. When it was I crawled through.

I was now completely in his house and under the bed.
"I'm in" I said.

"Excellent" Mouse and Bear said in unison.

"There still appears to be nobody at home" I observed.

"Did you have any luck with the security system?"

"No I don't think I did"

"Let's see how this goes than"I said. I rolled out from under the bed and quickly sprung up. I took note of his room as fast as I could. It was sparsely furnished, the room only really contained the bed, a wardrobe and a desk with a chair. The laptop was on the desk. Fearful that any device would catch me, I quickly raced towards the computer, disconnected it from all of its cord and cables and dashed back under the bed.

I slipped the laptop into my satchel and crawled back down the hole in the floor. I carefully replaced the pieces of wood which I had removed.

With my mission successful I returned home.

I wanted to go to Mouse and Bear and go through the contents of the laptop now, but we had decided to wait until tomorrow. This way we would have some time if My Secret Admirer knew whether or not I had his computer.
