Wednesday, 10th August 2016 - Worst Day of My Life
Dear Diary
That engineering excursion to the bridge was on today. I still didn't see much point to it, but it was a day off from school. Additionally, Prey wasn't in my engineering class, so I could easily avoid him today. As I was getting dressed, I discovered another listening device on my shirt. I was tempted to remove, but not doing so would demonstrate that we had 'given up', and it would probably come out in the wash anyway.
When I got to school, I saw Prey, and avoided him. I almost didn't even look at him. I knew his entire schedule, so I knew the best way to walk to each class to see him each day. However, I also knew which way to walk to avoid seeing him.
When it was time for the bus to leave, I continued to avoid him. I met up with Bear, and we sat next to each other on the bus. Normally, we would have talked about Prey or My Secret Admirer, but we were trying to make it look like we had nothing to do with either of them, so we talked about school, and how much we didn't like buses.
When we finally arrived at the bridge, the entire class got out of the bus. The teacher tried to explain how important that the design of the bridge was, but almost nobody cared. Well, one person did. He stood at the front. Everybody else stayed towards the back.
Finally, the part of the day everybody was actually looking forward to occurred. Lunch time. We walked to the local park and had lunch. The teacher tried to keep us all away from the playground, but she stood no chance. It had a yellow slide, with a blue coloured jungle gym, and two pairs of swings. The floor was covered in small pieces of wood, the sharp ones which are presumably put down to stop people from injuring the, selves when they fall. They do not work, and many people went home with small cuts and bruises. Bear and I spent most of the time on the swings, swinging.
The bus took us back to school, where I continued to avoid Prey. This was quite possibly the worst day of my life. I knew what Bear and I had decided, but it was not a choice that I liked.
