Dear Diary

Bear and I went to the new boys house. He still didn't have a code name, so we did not really know what to call him. We were confident that My Secret Admirer did not know about him, and even if he did, he certainly did not have enough time to plant any listening devices around his house. His bedroom contained a bed, several chairs, two desks and several computers. It was very lit. He sat on one of the chairs next to a desk, while Bear and both sat on opposite sides of the bed.

Everybody looked awkward and confused, unsure of what to say first. I broke the ice by asking the appropriate questions.

"What will your codename be?". They both looked startled that I actually said something.

He thought about it for a bit, before asking

"How do you give people these names?". I was confused.

"What characteristics give people their code names? Why are you Bear? Why are you Lion?". He made a very good point, we just give each other the names without really thinking about them. I told him this, but that didn't really influence him to come up with a name.

"Are they all animal based?".

I was about to tell him that they were, but they definitely were not.

"No, they are not".

It took quite a while of awkwardly suggesting names and rejecting them. Eventually we decided on Mouse. It was another animal name, and a component of a computer system.

Now that he had an actual name which we could use to address him, everything seemed to be less awkward.

I had written up a checklist of things that we needed to get through.

"We are running out of surveillance devices. While we have the entire school covered, much of the rest of the world is not". Mouse seemed surprised at that.

"You have the entire school under surveillance?" he stammered out. Bear answered him.

"Yes, but only since Tuesday". This seemed to make him feel a little better, but it did make me think. If he was uncomfortable with having every action if his watch, how many other people would too? I put this to the back of my mind. I would have plenty of time to talk about this later.

We wrote up a list of the parts and devices that we needed. We also tried to organize something for Intruder's birthday party tomorrow. We all decided that the best thing to do for it was to give Bear some kind of ear device which would allow us to keep in contact with her at all times. We would also be able to hear everything that she can hear. We added that to the list of components to purchase.

When this was all organized, Mouse, Bear and I went out to the shops. Another advantage of Mouse was that his house was a lot closer to the shops than either my house or Bear's house.

We were able to get all of the components that we wanted, but they did cost us an amount of money. I brought this up with Bear and Mouse.

"If we really want to keep this going, we need a source of income." They both agreed with me, but were uncertain of how to make some money. They suggested that we try and sell something, or that we begin to take the organization down the commercial route and find a person who wanted somebody followed. Of course, this was still going to be difficult.

Mouse set up the ear device for Bear. We tested it, and it seemed to work very well. I asked Mouse if I would be able to come back to his house during the party tomorrow, that way we would be able to listen in to the party. He said that this was acceptable.

Everybody went home.
