Dear Diary

Bear took a lot less time to get to my house than normal. She must have heard the tone in my voice. She tried to inquire about what was wrong over the phone, but I simply told her to come as soon as she could. When she was in my room, I slammed the door shut and cranked the music up to as loud as possible, again so as to avoid the listening devices from My Secret Admirer picking up any of our conversation.

She sat on my bed, and we made standard greetings.

"Are you OK?" Bear inquired.

""No" I said back. "Yesterday, when I was out walking Biscuit, I saw him". Bear immediately knew who I was talking about, but was unable to immediately connect the dots.

"I saw him yesterday with that...girl!" I had nothing else to call her, but Bear understood anyway. She got up and walked to the other side of my room.

"And they wait?" She asked.

"I suspect that they were going on a date, a romantic one."

She chuckled, he face seeming to say "As if there was any other kind". Then she went serious.

"What do you propose we do?"

I thought about this for a moment, preparing to say the words which I knew that I had to say.

"I think that this never would have happened had the Network not been underground. We could have prevented this, or found out about it, or something!".

"Are you proposing that we go back into operations full-time" she asked. That was actually exactly what I had been thinking of, and was glad that she had voiced the idea before me.

"Yes, yes I do", before she could say anything, I burst into the list of reasons that I had made, in an attempt to try and stop any of her main concerns before she even brought them up.

"We need to find out what My Secret Admirer is up to, if we do nothing, he has all of the advantage, it would be like we are letting him win. With the speakers, he won't even be able to find out what we are doing at all times anyway. Besides, Prey has a girlfriend, we can't exactly break them up easily if we are just sitting by the sidelines, waiting for somebody to just go away."

Bear looked at me.

"These are very valid reasons you make, and I agree with all of them, but...?"

"What?" I cried, desperate to start the Network of Spies again.

"Are you sure you want to start this again, once it begins, we aren't ending it"

"Definitely" I said firmly.

Opening one of my drawers, Bear retrieved several pieces of paper and a pen for the both of us.

"In that case, we need a little more organisation for our organisation. Before now, we've just been doing things that seemed to be a good idea, and responding to situations. We need a plan for everything".

And so we did. For the next several hours, we planned everything. We decided on how we would approach both Prey and his new romantic partner, what to do about My Secret Admirer and where we would take the organisation from here.

By the time we felt that we had completed it to an appropriate standard, we had a large pile of paper beside us. Bear picked the pile up, handed it to me and said "There is only one thing we have left to work out".

Confident that we had completed everything, I asked "What?", confusion showing on my face.

"What code name will we give this girl?"

Many names went through my mind, but only one seemed appropriate.

"Intruder"

"Intruder it is" Bear said, writing the name down on one of the pieces of paper.

The name was perfect. After all, she was intruding on Prey. He was mine. He had always been mine. He will always be mine. Now to teach Intruder that as well.
