Recipe 41: Brand New Start

Location: a hospital in Lucena City, Quezon Province
Destination: Naga City, Camarines Sir
Travel Time: 5 1/2 hours

Alice Flonne's POV:

"Flonne...Flonne, wake up. You're gonna get discharged today."

Lexi's sleepy voice make me open my eyes and sat up into the bed. It's almost five in the morning and Lexi's the only one who's awake now while Claire and Danica are still fast asleep. Well, they deserve that sleep because they're the ones who sell foods in the hospital grounds yesterday and used the money they got from it to buy the ingredients we needed for the next leg of the trip.

The next thing I knew is I saw Lexi just woke up at my bedside. He fall asleep on the chair while doctors remove the dextrose from my arm last night.

"Okay, Flonne. I'll help you prepare your things."

Without hesitation, Lexi carry me by his arms and put me to the wheelchair which was already prepared for me. And for the first time, Lexi searches from my bag of things...where he found my toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and...the next set of clothes I'm about to wear today.

"Here..." Lexi simply puts the things he pick up unto my lap. "Let me guide you to the bathroom, okay?"

"Sure, Lexi. Thanks."

Lexi pushed me into the bathroom and carried me again to sit into the toilet bowl, the most reliable thing right now in the bathroom since I can't use my legs for now. And after he helped me put off my clothes down to...umm...undergarments...

"Flonne, if you need help, just call me. I will be just outside, okay?"

"Okay. Thanks."

Afterwards, Lexi closed the door, leaving me alone to take a bath. But I still can't stop from thinking...how my immovable legs...could change the next things for me. I may not go to places alone...I will have difficulty in dealing with people and places...I even may not cook my dishes right with this.

I tried to move my legs by itself...against the slippery tiles of the bathroom. I put all my energy into it...but in vain...sigh...alright, fine. I'll deal with this later. I'll just take a bath...

Alex's POV:

I took a little while before I hear splashes of water from the bathroom...perhaps Flonne is thinking about what her condition can do with her ability to cook now...sigh...didn't she remember that I will help her to walk again?

"Good morning, Alex!" I just noticed Claire holding a cup of coffee. "You're really on guard with Alice, huh?"

"Yup. I promised her to help her walk again. Hehehe!" I laughed as I boast my promise. "How about you, I hear that you did a pretty good job running the store yesterday...perhaps you're really exhausted after you buy foods at the market right after selling your cooking."

"Ha! Nonsense! I still have that energy when we arrived here! Hehehe!" Claire giggles before sipping coffee. "But Danica...ehehehe...she can't stand my energetic and unstoppable self!"

"I hear that!!!" Then my eyes turned to Danica, who just woke up from her mattress. "You just forced and dragged me! I already told you that I'm already tired but you didn't listen! Hmph!"

"Oh! Ehehehe...my bad!" Claire then cuddles Danica and pats her head. "Come on, if you wanted to get closer with Alice, you need to deal on what I'm doing...since I have been her friend for years now."
