This one's long. Kinda because it's just a mashup of all of my 7 deadly sins poems with a few extra lines. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

7 deadly sins circulate inside of you
Yet what is a sin, but greatness's deterrent?

Greed

Avarice, cupidity or covetousness, it goes by many names
Yet in all of these examples have one game
The Artificial, rapacious desire for material possessions
Paving the way for trouble, cracks and unwanted aggression

We humans are so quick to assume that greed is oh so sinful
How could desire for what is not yours mean purity tinted?
But greed goes beyond money or possession
It can be the desire for goodness, not only treasure

There can be those so hell-bent on goodness
So determined for happiness, love and equality
They will do whatever it takes to end injustice
Those with the insatiable hunger to end poverty

Sloth

Laziness, idleness, and indolence
A certain state of mind, or a sense
An absence of interest or habitual disinclination
But is the act of taking a breather really so hellacious?

So many problems arise from just charging in
Not stopping, considering and finding what's underpinned
Acts of valor turn to the mothers of misery
all because we didn't think about the little things

Working hard is plain tomfoolery
When you can work smart and half the timing
And what better way to focus and complete
Than to sit back, relax and think about nothing

Lust

Forbidden and dreadfully contagious is lust's best traits
Intense and unbridled desire for dreadfully good mistakes
We think fornication, adultery, bestiality, rape
But lust is not always an evil snake

Like greed, lust is the want
But more, the uncontrollable desire
It takes control of you and sets you on a mission
But does not always lead to your funeral pyre

For greatness, sacrifices must be made
If your lust for justice is great enough, you are an angel's blade
For none can stop your desire to help those in need
You will make the sacrifices to ensure the children don't bleed

Gluttony

Putrid and wasteful, devouring all you can take
Insatiable hunger and overconsumption to the point of waste
A hole in your stomach that cannot be filled
You won't sit and take only the little

But the losers who only take the little, the winners want more
To fit everything inside their titanic maw
If you have the gluttony of a king
In years and years, it is your name they will sing

Feeding is not just what you eat, it's what you consume
Knowledge, power, glory will all be taken to your tomb
If you want everything and anything, the ripest of ripe
Than you will lead a rich, rich life

Wrath

Uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, and hatred for vengeance
The type of pure fury that doesn't just blend in
Behind the wrathful lay a path of blood and bones
Nobody who has crossed you stands alive to know

They say hatred is bad, yet oh so needed
Because in this, harsh, cruel world so many become conceited
Society is like a ferocious thunderstorm today
Your fire can't survive of you don't force people to pay

Granted, grudges are bad and two wrongs don't make a right
But you will get nowhere if you don't put up a fight
Wrath is for those who are subject to cruel manipulation
Gone is the day where they experience domination

Envy

The resentful covetousness toward other's belongings
Be it traits, possessions or their own dark longing
Arises from states of vainglory, arrogance, or just plain jealousy
We think of it as a snake when it is the pinnacle of morality

There comes a time where we all lie lost in a trance
With nothing to inspire us to once again dance
We think ourselves worthless because everything has failed
And to submission himself we sit: "All hail."

But we want what others have, and we will not stop
We will not stop until we obtain what has, until now, been lost
Because in this world we wander you need a goal
Something to drool over; food for your soul

Pride

Of all the 7 deadly sins it is the most dire
the perversion of the faculties of dignity and holiness transpire
Dangerously corrupt selfishness and narcissism
Believing you are better than other's limits

We live in a society indoctrinated to think all of us equal
But if that is the case, how do we explain the 'good' people
The ones who saw far above the rest
The ones who bore entitlement to victory like a crest

They have the pride in everything they ever accomplish
Be it a failure they learned from or a victory so complex
You sit lamenting over the page in front of you
They are living a life of pride, while you live off their residue

Your sins are slithering up your soul
You deny them and push them back
But you must accept them urgently
For they are what you lack
