Killing Cats

Two cats sat on the window sill
One lived old and one died young

Far from the cramped old home it knew
Sick of the stale milk and meagre food
The first cat jumped from the window
Into the wide, wide world, the unknown
He was curious of the world outside
Amazing that made him laugh and cry
A joyous and free life in the fresh air
Daunting but beautiful beyond compare
But it wasn't long until he was flat
Curiosity had killed the cat

The other cat lived out his tortured existence
Turtled inside the suffocating wall's trance
With nothing to do and nobody to play
A sliver of food and water every day
He lived long and heard much in his life
But when death took him he did not fight
A miserable existence had took its tole
On the small cat with the huge soul
It lived without curiosity, only complacency
Complacency killed the cat, not curiosity

Both cats died, who had it worse?
The complacent second or the curious first?
