Ambiversion

I need to be around you
But won't you leave me alone?
Oh, 'tis the pains of an ambivert

Likely looking up
Into the big, blue sky
Surrounded by a bustle
Your steps stride high

But also looking at your feet
Watching the earth go by
Secluding from the bustle
Living in your mind

Some gaze at you with fevering envy
With noses peeking out of books
Hidden by the words they live by
Why do they give you these looks?

Others look at you, concerned
And scorn you for your strangeness
Lose interest, return to their group
Leaving you... blissfully alone?

Extroversion seeps from your every pore
But the light of the sky is blinding
Be careful looking at the sky for so long
You don't want to trip, truly go flying

Introversion defines you
But if you continue to stare at the ground
When will you ever see the sky
Things look so different when you just... look around

When someone sits on a cloud
They may fall, and they will fall hard
Your extroversion is a blessing
But remember to play your cards

When someone sits in the sea
They are surrounded by their own mind
Cool yet suffocating, and mentally painful
A recipe for insatiable desire

Am I an extrovert?
No, I am not shallow
I am not stupid, I am not blind
I am perfectly unhollow

Am I an introvert?
No, I am not lost in antisocial tendencies
I may be smart, I may be dreamy
But I am just as lost with reality

Everyone is an ambivert, at the core
We have been conditioned one way
But what's stopping us from changing our laws?
