Purge of Population

Would a smaller world be a better one?
Given we can no longer support our number?
Population grows every day
What if there were a way to control it?
A purge of the population
Cropping the unkempt jungle of humanity

Like any plant, humanity has grown
And spread its roots far and wide
Some places beautiful and tranquil
Others where it should have never strayed
The plant blossoms beautiful fruits
And also rotten ones

But the problem is the size
Its immensity is choking the ecosystem
Cutting it back would bring many benefits
To this earth we live
And to our society in general
If we mean to survive

Pollution would lessen drastically
Calm, minimalist politics would ensue
Hardly any poverty
And no shortage of food
Less traffic and wealth
And no need for war

But how does one crop
A plant grown so vast?
The act would surely bring destruction
But as the dust settles
And we see through the haze
Would humanity be inevitably saved?
